Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for an Accounting Analyst at the Columbus General Office in Columbus, Nebraska. The role reports to the Asset Accounting & Miscellaneous Billing Supervisor and involves detailed accounting analysis and close responsibilities.

Qualifications include a bachelor's in accounting/finance or equivalent experience; CPA/CMA preferred. Proficiency in SAP, strong analytical and communication skills, and knowledge of GAAP are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field; CPA/CMA preferred.
  • Associate degree plus four years accounting experience acceptable.
  • High school/GED with ten years accounting or related experience.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills; knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Experience with SAP or similar accounting software systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting support for timely recording and reporting of revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with financial statements, schedules, and disclosures.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors and maintain internal controls.
  • Assist with month-end/year-end close cycles and regulatory reports.
  • Reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledgers; analyze and report variances.
  • Support special projects, benchmarking, system upgrades, and ad hoc reports.
