Job Description:

This position is the Bureau of Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Asset and Contracts Engineer, overseeing statewide asset consistency and contracting related to MaineDOT's transportation system. Responsibilities include developing technical guidelines, policies, and regulations; supporting staff activities; approving fiscal transactions; and managing federally funded contracts. The role involves coordinating work priorities, reviewing plans, and overseeing asset inventory consistency, working with regional teams and asset technicians. The engineer also advises on contract documentation for advertising, awards, and construction, requiring extensive experience in transportation construction, contract law, environmental permits, project estimating, and licensure as a Maine Professional Engineer. Work is performed with limited supervision.

Minimum qualifications include:

Licensure as a Professional Engineer and at least two years of experience demonstrating complex engineering skills, risk evaluation, and sound judgment in planning, project development, or maintenance of public works structures.

Licensing Requirements:

Professional Engineer licensure from the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
