Job Description:
This position is the Bureau of Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Asset and Contracts Engineer, overseeing statewide consistency of assets and managing contracting related to MaineDOT's transportation system. Responsibilities include coordinating with FEMA and FHWA on Emergency Projects, developing technical guidelines, policies, and regulations, directing staff activities, approving fiscal transactions, and administering federally funded contracts. The role involves reviewing plans, estimates, specifications, and overseeing asset inventory consistency, working with regional teams and Asset Technicians. The Asset and Contracts Engineer advises on contract documents for advertising, awards, and construction, requiring broad experience in transportation construction, contract law, environmental permits, project estimating, and licensure as a Maine Professional Engineer. Work is performed with limited supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensure as a Professional Engineer and at least two (2) years of experience demonstrating complex engineering skills, risk evaluation, and sound engineering judgment in planning, project development, or maintenance of public works structures and facilities.
Licensing Requirements:
Licensure as a Professional Engineer by the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
