We are seeking a skilled Asset Acquisition Specialist to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in sourcing, evaluating, and procuring construction equipment to meet the dynamic needs of our operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic negotiator, possess a strong understanding of the heavy equipment market, and have a proven ability to secure high-value assets with the best value in mind.

As an integral member of our Equipment team, you will collaborate with operations, fleet management, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisitions that align with project demands and lifecycle strategies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Source and acquire construction equipment (new and used) in alignment with company needs and specifications.
  • Negotiate purchase terms, pricing, trade-ins, warranties, and financing options to secure optimal value.
  • Evaluate equipment condition, usage history, and resale value to support procurement decisions.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, dealers, and auction partners to ensure access to high-quality inventory.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to anticipate project-based equipment demands and recommend acquisition strategies.
  • Monitor equipment market trends, pricing, and availability to inform procurement timing and budgeting.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all transactions, contracts, and supplier communications.
  • Assist in asset disposition, including resale and trade-in negotiations for underutilized or end-of-life equipment.
  • Support capital planning through forecasting, budgeting input, and total cost of ownership analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Complete rental rate annual analysis, digital marketing, project estimate support, 3rd party rental support, and coordinate consistent OEM updates.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of experience in equipment purchasing, fleet acquisition, or construction procurement.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favorable terms.
  • Familiarity with construction equipment types and manufacturers (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Manitowoc, John Deere).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with asset management or procurement software.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed for equipment inspections or supplier meetings.
  • Experience working in a construction or heavy equipment environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of fleet lifecycle strategies and total cost of ownership principles preferred.
  • Experience working with auctions, used equipment marketplaces, and asset valuation tools preferred.
