Job summary

Lifepoint Health's Tampa General Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking an Assessment Specialist for PRN nights (7p-7a) to join a joint operation with Tampa General Hospital. You will handle initial responses, assessments, referrals, admissions, and follow-up while upholding high standards of patient care and service delivery.

You'll be integral to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring accurate documentation and timely pre-certifications with insurers, while monitoring patients and maintaining

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in nursing or master's in social work/counseling required.
• Current clinical, social work, or RN license as required by state regulations.
• CPR certification and CPI training within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates response to a request for services, including initial response, assessment, referral, level-of-care designation, admission, and follow-up.
• Conducts initial evaluation, initiates assessment, documents symptoms, functioning, and needs for MD LOC decision.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service with patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
• Maintains preadmission/admission paperwork and completes pre-certification with insurance companies.
• Monitors patient for changes in condition and notifies the physician as needed.

How You'll Contribute

An Assessment Specialist who excels in this role:

• Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, the referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow-up activity.
• Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
• Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
• Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all pre-certification with insurance companies.
• Will monitor patient for change of condition and respond accordingly up to and including notification of the physician.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing Required or Master's degree in Social Work/Counseling required.
• License: Current clinical, social work, or RN license as required by state regulations.
• Experience: Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred. Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities
• CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact. Must be at least 21 years of age. Maybe required to work flexible hours and overtime.
