Job summary

Heritage Oaks Hospital, part of the UHS family, is seeking a Per Diem Assessment & Referral Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure proper admission processes and timely, courteous patient care. The Admissions RN uses the nursing process, adheres to standards of care, and supports mental health practices within hospital policy.

Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments, admissions screening, and referral reviews. Availability for AM, PM, and NOC shifts is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
• A minimum of two years' experience as a registered nurse in a psychiatric health care facility is preferred.
• Current license to practice as an RN in the state.
• Must pass a medication administration exam; CPR certification; completion of hospital behavioral management training including de-escalation and restraint.

• Conducts and documents the direct and comprehensive assessments required for patients to determine dispositions.
• Participate in screening patients for admission into hospital programs using pre-approved criteria.
• Review referrals and determine appropriateness for patient admission criteria with policy guidance.

Heritage Oaks is looking for a Per DiemAssessment & Referral Registered Nurse (RN) to join the team! The Admissions Nurse is a Staff RN who is responsible for assuring that the admission process is carried out properly. The RN utilizes the nursing process and adheres to established standards of care, mental health practices, and hospital policy, goals and objectives in executing this responsibility. This position also assures that admissions are managed in a timely and courteous manner.

Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years experience as a registered nurse in a psychiatric health care facility preferred.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing.

Additional Requirements: Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications. CPR certification and successful completion of the hospital's designated physical and behavioral management training program, including de-escalation and appropriate use of seclusion and restraint, required prior to assisting in the procedures. Incumbent may be required to work overtime or flexible hours.
