Job Summary

The Intake Assessor handles the Assessment and Referral activities at Windsor Laurelwood Center for Behavioral Health. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, fellow department members, administration, treatment team, external case managers, and managed care organizations. It takes passion and dedication to meet the behavioral health needs of our community. Windsor Laurelwood, located in Willoughby, Ohio, has provided high‑quality behavioral health and substance abuse treatment services for over 100 years, offering both inpatient and outpatient programming to adults, adolescents, and children.

Responsibilities

The Intake Assessor handles the assessment, referral, and intake processes for patients, coordinating with clinical staff and external agencies to ensure timely and appropriate care.

Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, mental health, or a related field, or licensed RN.
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting. Working knowledge of the mental health field, clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family treatment, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations.
Work Environment

Clean, well‑lit environment. Intake coordinators may sit or stand for long periods in a high‑stress, active setting with continuous low‑volume office machine noise.

Additional Requirements

Trained in Non‑violent Physical Crisis Intervention and CPR prior to independent assignment or completion of orientation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, diplomacy, discretion, ability to prioritize responsibilities, and a professional demeanor and appearance are required.
