Job description

Assessment and Referral Clinician 2nd shift

Perimeter Behavioral of Jackson has an immediate opening for an Assessment & Referral Specialist (Master's Level and/or RN). We seek individuals committed to improving the lives of those with mental health illnesses.

The Assessment & Referral Specialist is responsible for providing procedural information, legal forms, and hands-on assistance to self-represented litigants. This role involves conducting interviews, assisting with the preparation, completion, and notarization of family court documents, and performing case screenings, intake, and coordination for family law cases. Work involves applying unified family court practices and case management techniques to promote case progression and resolution. The position requires handling a high volume of inquiries, managing intake appointments, scheduling case events, and utilizing a multi-line telephone system. Work is performed both independently and as part of a team, under the supervision of the Director of Assessment & Referral.

Position Responsibilities
  • Serve as Intake Specialist for Behavioral Health Services, conducting intake interviews to assess appropriate care levels.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of developmental stages of children and the needs of the geriatric population.
  • Utilize cultural, spiritual, and social understanding in healthcare delivery.
  • Handle incoming inquiry calls and walk-in assessments to determine service viability.
  • Act as client liaison, providing accurate interviews and making appropriate referrals.
  • Assess psychosocial and emotional status, considering developmental and geriatric needs.
  • Coordinate insurance verification with the business office.
  • Facilitate communication among clinical staff, nursing, business, and marketing teams.
  • Monitor referral sources and follow up regarding outpatient referrals.
  • Document and organize inquiry data to aid referral development.
  • Apply logical problem-solving and manage situations positively.
  • Be self-directed, motivated, and adaptable to duties.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of MS in a Behavioral Health field or Tennessee RN license.
  • Experience in Behavioral Health assessment and treatment.
  • Preferred: at least one year in an inpatient Behavioral Health Unit.
  • Computer and statistical proficiency preferred.
  • Knowledge of legal, ethical issues, crisis intervention, and community mental health resources.
  • Understanding of customer service principles, insurance systems, and behavioral health practices.
  • Skills in interpreting developmental stages and age-specific needs.
