Job summary

Danfoss is seeking a Hydraulic and Pneumatic Cylinder Assembler/Tester/Painter in Michigan for first shift. You will gather components, assemble cylinders, and test performance under pressure while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

The role requires painting work and final inspections prior to shipping. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of manufacturing experience, read blueprints, and can lift 30 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Reads blueprints, SOPs, and router sheets.
  • Proficient in reading and following paint instructions and using inspection tools.
  • Capable of moving at least 30 lbs independently; seeks assistance for heavier items.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, clean and assemble cylinder components and bearings.
  • Perform final assembly of cylinders using drawings, routings, and work instructions.
  • Conduct operational testing of hydraulic/pneumatic products under pressure and document results.
  • Inspect products for compliance with specs and ensure smooth operation.
  • Prepare, paint, and route cylinders through shipping; perform final inspection of finish and parts.
  • Support coverage for absences and assist with stockroom/kitting as needed.

As a Hydraulic and Pneumatic Cylinder Assembler/Tester/Painter, you will be joining a team environment with associates that are focused on meeting goals set for Safety, Quality, and Productivity to meet our customer demands.

This is a 1st Shift position, with shift hours 6:45 am to 3:15 pm, Monday through Friday.

This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Gather, clean and assemble a variety of cylinder components and bearings for final assembly and kitting
  • Complete final assembly of small to large bore cylinders using chart drawings, routings, and work instructions
  • Perform operational testing of hydraulic and pneumatic products under pressure; document test results as required
  • Inspect products to ensure compliance with company and customer specifications, including assembly accuracy and smooth operation
  • Prepare, paint (mixing/spraying special and standard paints), and route cylinders through shipping; conduct final inspection for painting finish, completeness, and correct parts/accessories
  • Support flexibility within the Assembly Department, including coverage for absences/time off, and assist with indirect functions such as stockroom and kitting as assigned
What We're Looking For
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, standard operating procedures, and router process sheets
  • Proficient in reading, writing, counting, and following special paint instructions; able to use standard inspection tools
  • Capable of moving at least 30 lbs. independently; seeking assistance for heavier items
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum one (1) year of manufacturing experience
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius of Jackson, MI (no relocation provided)
  • Legally authorized to work in the US, without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of hydraulic testing experience
  • Experience with engineering test equipment
  • One (1) year of spray-painting experience
  • Proficiency in machine shop math
  • Skilled in operating power hand tools and using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments
