Job summary

VACCO Industries in El Monte, CA seeks a skilled Test Technician to perform high pressure and cryogenic testing, assembling and testing valves and filters from blueprints, and ensuring conformance with performance tests.

Qualifications

• Two year certificate from college or technical school with 3 years related experience; or HS diploma with 5 years related experience.

Job description

• Conducts high pressure and cryogenic testing safely.
• Working from blueprints assembles and tests various valves and filters within allotted timeframe and insures conformance with assembly performance tests specifications.
• Working from blueprints, work orders, quality control test manuals, performance specifications, schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
• Calibrates test instruments according to specifications.
• Analyzes test results related to the design and test objectives, modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications.
• Records these test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data and recommendations for changes in product or test method.
• Compares results with specifications and documents test data.
• Analyzes test results on defective units to determine cause of failure.
• Verifies dimensions of mechanical parts using hand-held measuring equipment such as micrometers, indicators and depth mikes.
• Verifies dimensions of mechanical parts using hand-held measuring equipment.
• Knowledge of chem etching (markings), tube bending and how to clean parts in pre-clean.
• Ability to operate and maintain equipment such as Instron machines, AstroMed and mass spectrometer.
• Confers with engineers, technicians, production personnel, quality control personnel and others regarding testing procedures and results to resolve problems.
• Capable of operating airborne and structure borne noise measurement equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to read and interpret blueprint and schematic drawings.
• Working knowledge of standard test equipment i.e. data recorders, pressure transducers and gauges, flow measuring devices, environmental chambers, thermo-coupling, and helium leak detectors.
• Proficiency in the use of MS software such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Basic knowledge of plant operations and processes.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Two year certificate from college or technical school; with three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or a High School Diploma or GED Certificate and five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
