Job summary

OSI Optoelectronics is seeking an Assembly & Test Operator in Hawthorne, CA. The role involves assembling electronic components under a microscope using tweezers and performing a variety of tests and inspections to ensure product quality.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to work with precise tools, chemicals, and may be cross-trained in other test areas. OSI offers a broad benefits package and long-term incentives.

  • Must be able to work with tweezers, microscopes, chemicals such as alcohol, acetone and solder daily.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electronic components under a microscope using tweezers.
  • Conducts DC and PIND tests.
  • Performs Constant Acceleration and Differential VBE tests.
  • Responsible for Temp Test.
  • Performs Laser Mark, Solder Dip, X-Ray, Leak Test, External Visual and Mechanical tests.
  • Cross trained in other related test areas as production demand requires.
  • Create original documents, reports and spreadsheets and interpret information furnished in written, oral or schedule form.

OSI Optoelectronics is seeking an Assembly & Test Operator. This individual is r esponsible for assembling electronic components from written to oral instructions under a microscope using tweezers. They will work as part of a team having responsibility for assembling an entire product or component of a product. In addition, they will perform a variety of processing and testing on electronic components. Performs DC Test, PIND Test, Constant Acceleration, Differential VBE, Temp Test, Laser Mark, Solder Dip, X-Ray, Leak Test, External Visual and Mechanical.

  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Related work experience in a manufacturing environment desired.
  • Familiarity with optical inspection, eutectic die attach, and ultrasonic wire bonding ideal desired.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Internet and email programs.
  • Must be able to work with tweezers, microscopes, chemicals such as alcohol, acetone and solder, on a daily basis.
  • Sits for extended periods of time at a computer station or work desk. Stands and walks throughout the day. May stand for lengthy periods at events.
  • Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses.
  • Requires excellent manual dexterity.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Detailed oriented, multi-tasked, identify priorities and the ability to work independently, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Keeps work area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Within the first three months of employment, must be able to demonstrate proficiency in manufacturing processes, quality requirements, and operational procedures. Upon successful demonstration of these competencies, the individual will be considered certified. The certification ensures compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry regulations.

Pay may range from $22.00 to $24.00 hourly

The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.

Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP). OSI also offers comprehensive benefits including various options for health plans, access to 401(k) retirement plan, health savings account, disability insurance, life insurance, AD&D insurance, leave of absence programs and an array of voluntary benefits.
