Job summary

New Flyer is North America's heavy-duty transit bus leader, delivering advanced products under the Xcelsior and Xcelsior CHARGE brands. This role handles all required assemblies and installations on coaches on the production line, using blueprints, process sheets, and parts lists.

The position includes overtime as needed to meet schedules and offers benefits, 401K with company match, and on-the-job training. Hours are Monday–Thursday, 4:00pm–2:30am; some Fridays may require overtime.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow intermediate measurements and instructions with a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent time management and communication skills to operate in a production environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work overtime as needed to meet production schedules.

Responsibilities

• Performs installations and/or assemblies within a designated work area on the production line.
• Reviews assembly instructions, blueprints, and parts lists to prepare work and gather parts and tools.
• Ensures quality and consistency in installations and assemblies.
• Uses measurement tools and math skills to build to specifications.
• Maintains clean, safe workstation and can work from blueprints/process sheets.

Job description

This position is responsible for all required assemblies and installations on coaches while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Hours of this position are Monday – Thursday, 4:00pm – 2:30am. Any OT would likely be on Friday.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Performs all installations and/or assemblies within a specified work area on the production line.
• Prepares work to be accomplished by reviewing assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools and materials.
• Ensures quality and consistency in installations and/or assemblies within a specified work area.
• Be able to work from blueprints, process sheets, and/or written instructions, then build to those specifications while utilizing measurement tools and basic math skills.
• Have working knowledge of hand and air tools. Employee is regularly exposed to vibration, and occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
• Regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Be able to bend, stoop, and reach. Be able to climb up and down, as well as work using a ladder. Employee will go extended periods of time standing and performing repetitive tasks.
• Ensure workstation is kept clean and in safe working condition.
• Be present on the job to perform the assigned duties and be able to work overtime which is often required to meet production schedules.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Ability to use small hand and power tools repetitively, as well as measuring equipment and tools.
• Ability to read and follow intermediate measurements and instructions with a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Be a team player, a self-starter and be able to work in a team setting.
• Good communication skills, ability to work with little supervision, and excellent time management skills.

• Salary: $26.40 per hour
