Job summary

New Flyer, a leader in heavy-duty transit buses, seeks an assembler to perform installations and assemblies on the production line. You will review instructions, blueprints, and parts lists, gather components, and build to specifications while maintaining quality and safety.

Responsibilities include using hand and power tools, reading measurements, and working in a team. Expect Monday–Friday 6:30am–3:00pm with overtime on Saturdays and opportunities for career advancement.

Qualifications

• Ability to use small hand and power tools repetitively.
• Ability to read and follow intermediate measurements and instructions with a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Be a team player, a self-starter and able to work in a team setting.
• Good communication skills, ability to work with little supervision, and excellent time management skills.

• Performs installations and/or assemblies on the production line within a given work area.
• Prepares work by reviewing instructions, blueprints, parts lists, and gathering components.
• Ensures quality and consistency in installations and assemblies.
• Reads from blueprints/process sheets and builds to specifications using measurement tools and basic math.
• Uses hand and air tools; aware of vibration and moving parts.
• Maintains workstation cleanliness and safety; can work overtime as production schedules require.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

This position is responsible for all required assemblies and installations on coaches while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Hours of this position are Monday - Friday, 6:30am- 3:00pm. Any OT would likely be on Saturday.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Performs all installations and/or assemblies within a specified work area on the production line.
• Prepares work to be accomplished by reviewing assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools and materials.
• Ensures quality and consistency in installations and/or assemblies within a specified work area.
• Be able to work from blueprints, process sheets, and/or written instructions, then build to those specifications while utilizing measurement tools and basic math skills.
• Have working knowledge of hand and air tools. Employee is regularly exposed to vibration, and occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
• Regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Be able to bend, stoop, and reach. Be able to climb up and down, as well as work using a ladder. Employee will go extended periods of time standing and performing repetitive tasks.
• Ensure workstation is kept clean and in safe working condition.
• Be present on the job to perform the assigned duties and be able to work overtime which is often required to meet production schedules.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
