Job summary

Akraya is seeking an Assembly Tech / Build Tech to join our robotics hardware team in Wilmington, MA. The role focuses on assembling, integrating, and testing robotic components in a fast-paced engineering and production setting.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in precision assembly, familiarity with engineering drawings and quality checks, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs while standing for long periods. On-site, contract-based with possible extension.

Qualifications

• 3 years of hands-on experience in mechanical and/or electrical assembly of prototype or low-volume hardware products.
• Experience with precision electromechanical assembly and common assembly tools, including calibrated torque wrenches, crimpers, soldering irons, hand tools, power tools, and/or pneumatic tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision mechanical and electrical assembly of robotic components, subassemblies, and complete systems, including final system integration.
• Prepare robot assemblies for end-of-line functional testing, performance characterization, system-level testing, and safety validation.
• Conduct in-process quality inspections and dimensional checks using torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measurement tools; document build deviations and non-conformances.
• Interpret engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, wiring schematics, and assembly instructions to ensure accurate builds; verify hardware and cable readiness for firmware and software integration.
• Collaborate with engineering, production planning, and materials teams to resolve design or parts issues, provide design-for-assembly feedback, maintain build documentation, and meet production schedules and quality targets.

Job Summary

Industry Experience

• Robotics, electromechanical systems, aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, hardware prototyping, and pre-production manufacturing.
• Robotics or complex electromechanical assembly experience is preferred.
