Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced professional to perform assembly, testing, calibration, inspection, and troubleshooting of laser, optical, electronic, and electromechanical products. This role supports the manufacturing process from component assembly through final testing and finished goods. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, technical troubleshooting abilities, and experience working with precision products in a manufacturing environment. The position involves working with limited supervision while collaborating closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, New Product Introduction (NPI), and Quality teams.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform assembly, installation, inspection, testing, repair, reassembly, replacement, refitting, and adjustment of products and components according to established procedures and specifications.
• Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with approved work instructions, standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and manufacturing practices.
• Inspect products and assemblies throughout the manufacturing process to verify quality and conformance with engineering requirements and specifications.
• Perform product testing and calibration and accurately document results.
• Record required production and quality data in a timely manner to maintain product traceability using manufacturing and documentation systems.
• Identify and communicate product defects, process deviations, equipment issues, material shortages, safety concerns, and other potential production issues.
• Follow established procedures for identifying, documenting, segregating, and disposing of nonconforming or scrap material.
• Properly segregate hazardous and non-hazardous waste in accordance with established safety and environmental procedures.
• Assist Engineering and NPI teams with the development, assembly, testing, and evaluation of prototypes, new products, manufacturing processes, and procedures.
• Provide feedback on manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve quality, safety, efficiency, and productivity.
• Perform required equipment verification and validation activities before production use.
• Ensure production equipment is properly shut down, secured, and maintained at the end of each shift.
• Maintain accurate and complete manufacturing records and production data using applicable computer systems and software.
• Work collaboratively with team members and provide technical support as appropriate.
• Maintain close communication with Manufacturing, NPI, Engineering, and Quality teams to support new products, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain and champion 6S principles and standards within production areas.
• Follow all applicable quality, safety, work instruction, and manufacturing procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to read, understand, and follow technical work instructions, procedures, drawings, specifications, and other manufacturing documentation.
• Working knowledge of electronic and/or electromechanical assembly, testing, inspection, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to use hand tools, test equipment, production equipment, and computer-based manufacturing systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and accuracy.
• Ability to accurately document production activities, test results, and product information.
• Ability to identify problems, troubleshoot basic manufacturing or product issues, and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple production priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate of Science, Bachelor of Science, technical degree, or similar technical certification.
• Previous experience in electronics, optics, photonics, laser systems, sensors, or other high-precision manufacturing environments.
• Experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Jira, or similar manufacturing and documentation systems.
• Familiarity with 6S, Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or similar manufacturing methodologies.
• Demonstrated interest in learning new technologies, processes, and manufacturing methods.

Required Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3 years of related technical or manufacturing experience, with an emphasis on the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, or inspection of electronic, electromechanical, optical, or similar devices.
• An equivalent combination of education, technical training, certification, and relevant experience may be considered.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to perform detailed assembly and inspection work requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
• Ability to use hand tools, test equipment, computers, and other manufacturing equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing manufacturing activities.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and comply with applicable safety procedures and required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to safely handle materials and equipment associated with assigned manufacturing processes.
• Ability to lift and/or move materials and equipment consistent with the requirements of the position.
