ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assembly Technician to join our manufacturing team in Janesville, WI. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assembly & Production
- Assemble mechanical components and sub-assemblies using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments, following technical SOPs, drawings and production documents.
- Interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions to ensure accurate and repeatable construction of products.
- Meet daily and weekly production targets while maintaining consistent adherence to quality control standards.
- Perform in-process inspections, checks and visual inspections to verify assembly conformance before passing to the next stage.
Material Handling & Facility Operations
- Operate factory equipment safely to transport materials, sub-assemblies, and finished goods within the manufacturing facility.
- Execute manual handling tasks, including heavy lifting, in strict compliance with safety protocols and ergonomic guidelines.
- Receive, verify, and stage incoming components and materials for the assembly line in coordination with the warehouse team.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workstation in full compliance with safety standards applicable to medical device production environments.
- Follow all company SOPs, work instructions, and regulatory requirements relevant to medical device assembly.
- Report non-conformances, defects, and near-misses promptly to the supervisor and assist with root cause investigation as required.
- Participate in safety briefings, training programs, and periodic safety audits.
- Perform repairs and rework on defective or returned assemblies, diagnosing root causes and restoring products to specification.
- Conduct functional and performance testing of assembled units using prescribed test procedures and equipment, documenting results accurately.
- Identify and elevate recurring defect patterns to the quality team to drive systemic corrective actions.
- Maintain rework and repair logs in compliance with applicable QMS documentation requirements.
Process Improvement & Teamwork
- Support process improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies on the assembly floor and suggesting practical enhancements to streamline procedures.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen) to drive waste reduction and workflow optimization.
- Collaborate actively with team members, engineers, and supervisors to resolve production bottlenecks and meet delivery schedules.
- Support cross-training efforts and assist in onboarding new assembly team members as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Biomedical Technology is an advantage.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in a medical device manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrable experience working in a regulated production facility with a solid understanding of assembly processes and quality systems.
- Prior exposure to ISO 13485 QMS or FDA 21 CFR Part 820 regulated manufacturing environments is a plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Pay Rate
$19.00 - $25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Paid time off (PTO) provided in accordance with company policy.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL
This is a full-time, in-person role based at our Janesville, WI manufacturing facility. The work environment includes active production areas, requiring consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Candidates must be comfortable standing for extended periods, working in a regulated manufacturing setting, and performing physical tasks including lifting. Flexibility with work timings and shift schedules is expected; overtime may be required based on production demand.
This role requires occasional travel of approximately 10-20% for customer site visits, field service support, product installations, or training activities across the US. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel are essential.
