Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for the planning, coordination and control of the Assembly processes and the associates who perform them. This role ensures that the assembly of the boats and components are produced safely, efficiently, at the right cost and level of quality. They utilize Lean Sigma tools and techniques to advance safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Accomplishes daily/monthly manufacturing goals by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining associates; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Uses MDI to provide guidance to floor team leads through floor presence; communicate company goals, line performance, projects, and general information to associates; ensure daily departmental meetings are conducted.
  • Monitors quality control inspections in the assembly production area to ensure product quality.
  • Provides supervision and clear communication of goals to Team Leads.
  • Works with management and subordinates to resolve associate concerns, issues, and conflicts. Maintains and promotes a safe and clean working environment; educate and direct associates in applying 5S techniques to meet established standard work, safety policies and practices.
  • Participates in selection, orientation, and training new and existing associates; track competencies of subordinates and provide leadership and development as required to achieve business objectives.
  • Maintains and reports production performance metrics using SQCD board; evaluate new equipment and techniques.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred Degree: College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in manufacturing
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in previous manufacturing supervisory/manager position

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Experience using Lean Sigma to accomplish business goals and objectives.
  • Good Leadership/Supervisory skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively speak before groups of associates and other managers in the organization.
  • Computer literate (use of email, spreadsheets, database, charting)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • N/A

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular computer work, walking and standing
  • Occasional sitting and lifting up to 50lbs

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

  • Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
