Job summary

Western Enterprises in Westlake, Ohio, seeks a manufacturing supervisor to lead line leads and assembly personnel. You will drive process improvements, ensure production plans are executed, and uphold safety and quality standards across the plant.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Sciences, Engineering, or Business Admin is desirable but not required.
  • 3-5 years manufacturing operations supervisory experience.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

What You’ll Do:
  • Responsible for supervision of line leads and assembly personnel.
  • Understands production planning concepts.
  • Capable of driving positive change in all aspects of departments’ operations by using
  • continuous improvement tools and methodologies, teamwork and shop floor metrics, to include quality, cost, delivery, safety and 5S.
  • Drive process improvements in areas of responsibility.
  • Identify, analyze and solve issues related to assembly processes.
  • Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work, appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees, addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Utilizes all available resources to meet delivery dates and quality standards.
  • Oversees, manages, and schedules personnel and activities of respective areas of responsibility.
  • Implements and monitors productivity improvements such as cycle time improvements and cost cutting measures.
  • Ensures all safety procedures and rules are followed and all safety issues are resolved.
  • Coordinates manpower requirements to meet changing conditions.
  • Verifies that all methods of operation and ISO procedures are updated, followed and effective training programs are maintained and documented.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership by leading by example.
  • Assist in developing, implementing and sustaining a safety program and culture.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Recruits, trains, and coaches employees.
  • Manages processes to assure continuous improvements takes place for cost reductions and quality improvements as jobs are run through the plant.
  • Identify and solve related manufacturing problems.
  • Responds in a timely manner to manufacturing problems and operates with a sense of urgency when required.
  • Develop, setup, and implementation of new machine documentation to achieve the organizational performance, production and financial objectives.
  • Aids or leads in the development of Capital Equipment Justification proposals and implementations of new equipment for manufacturing facility, as required.
  • Collaborates with planning, quality, purchasing, assembly and design staff concerning product design quality planning, and fixturing to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Collaborates with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with manufacturing personnel and other staff members in order to support a positive workplace environment.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Develops, evaluates, improves set up methods and reduces set up times.
  • Works to reduce all aspects of manufacturing costs and waste.
What You’ll Need:
  • Associate degree in Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration desired, but not required, relevant industry and job experience a must.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience in operations including, medical or industrial assembly activities as well as supervisory experience.
  • 3-5 years experience with implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Must possess a high degree of personal integrity as well as an outstanding work ethic.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Medical and Industrial Assembly and Testing, materials, quality programs, safety programs and managing resources.
  • Understands basic production planning and inventory concepts.
  • Knowledge of: Robust safety programs.
  • Capable of driving positive change in all aspects of assembly operations by using continuous improvement tools and methodologies, teamwork and shop floor metrics, to include quality, cost, delivery, safety and housekeeping.
  • Effectively communicate with assembly personnel as well as plant management.
  • Read and understand blueprints.
  • Measure and gage parts using industry standard tools such as micrometers, plug and thread gages, etc. Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering to identify, develop, and implement process improvements.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills in all units of measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to generate production related reports.
  • Desire and ability to train new and existing employees to written assembly procedures.
  • Intermediate skills of Microsoft Excel, Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of ADP is a big plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish will set candidate apart from others.
  • Lead by example.
