Job summary

PFI is seeking an Assembly Specialist to assemble and test complex machinery according to engineering drawings and QC specifications. The role requires fabricating small components and safely operating various shop equipment.

Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, with 3–5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination. Proficiency with blueprints, schedules, and barcode tracking is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble equipment per engineering drawings and QC specifications.
  • Fabricate small components as required.
  • Operate overhead hoist and/or crane safely.
  • Use schedules, barcode system for tracking projects, blueprints and technical standards.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safe work area.
  • Follow safety and security procedures and wear PPE as required.

Job Title: Assembly Specialist Division:PFI

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Job Status: Full Time

Reports To: Production Supervisor

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Assemble equipment as required per engineering drawings and QC specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

More specifically, the employee owner will:

  • The ability to mechanically assemble and test complex machinery with hand and power tools.
  • Fabricate small components as required.
  • The safe use of various equipment. I.E. Hydraulic bushing presses, drill presses, band saws, spot welders, grinders, hand tools, etc.
  • Use and understand various paperwork, including schedules, bar code system for tracking projects, blueprints and tech standards.
  • Overhead hoist and/or crane operation and safety.
  • Perform routine housekeeping and maintenance.

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS
  • High school diploma or a general education degree (GED); or
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES
  • Welding certificate preferred but not required.
  • Continually participate in additional training related to the job.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee:

  • Must be able to frequently stoop/bend.
  • Must be able to regularly use hands and arms.
  • Must be able to regularly stand and walk.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with hoist available.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with hoist available.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
  • Specific hearing abilities required for this job include the ability to hear equipment alarms and the ability to hear instructions from others.
ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to working near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat (non-weather).
  • Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.
  • Steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection and heavy gloves
