Voith Paper in Appleton, WI is hiring an Assembly Repair Mechanic (Millwright I) to support repair, rebuild, and assembly of rotating industrial equipment used in paper manufacturing. The role suits candidates with millwright, mechanical, assembly, or industrial maintenance experience who enjoy hands-on work and troubleshooting.

You will work in an industrial shop performing tear-downs, inspections, repairs, and reassembly to OEM specifications, with opportunities to grow into a multi-skill

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work safely in industrial conditions (heat, dust, noise).
• Experience in millwright, mechanical assembly, or industrial maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Tear down rotating assemblies and mechanical equipment to diagnose failures.
• Assemble machines and rotating components back to OEM condition.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Measure bearing clearances and shaft diameters using micrometers and Romer Arm.
• Move, align, and install machinery using hoists, cranes, forklifts, dollies, and rollers.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and lift trucks in an industrial setting.
• Perform light TIG welding as needed and troubleshoot equipment reliability.
• Document findings and repair activities clearly for records and quality.
• Support installation work at mill sites when required.

Location: Appleton, WI
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 4:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay Range: $20.00–$30.00 per hour

Industrial Assembly & Repair Opportunity – Millwright / Mechanical Repair

Voith Paper is hiring an Assembly Repair Mechanic (Millwright I) to support the repair, rebuild, and assembly of rotating industrial equipment used in paper manufacturing. This role is ideal for candidates with millwright, mechanical, assembly, or industrial maintenance experience who enjoy hands‑on work, troubleshooting, and restoring equipment to OEM specifications.

You will work in an industrial shop environment performing tear‑downs, inspections, repairs, and reassembly of rotating machinery, with opportunities to grow into a multi‑skill industrial mechanic.

Key Responsibilities (Assembly Repair / Millwright)

• Tear down rotating assemblies and mechanical equipment to diagnose failures
• Assemble machines and rotating components back to OEM condition
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Measure bearing clearances and shaft diameters using inside/outside micrometers and Romer Arm
• Move, align, and install machinery using hoists, cranes, forklifts, dollies, and rollers
• Operate hand tools, power tools, lift trucks, and industrial equipment
• Use large bearing pullers, torches, and perform light TIG welding as needed
• Troubleshoot equipment reliability and performance issues
• Document findings and repair activities clearly and accurately
• Support installation work at mill sites if or when required

Skills & Experience (Preferred, Not Required)

• Millwright, mechanical assembly, or industrial maintenance experience
• Experience working with rotating equipment, bearings, shafts, or gear assemblies
• Familiarity with cranes, forklifts, and industrial lifting devices
• Welding experience (TIG preferred)
• Ability to work in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment

Required Qualifications

• Ability to work safely in industrial conditions (heat, dust, noise, heavy equipment)
• Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Industrial shop and mill environments
• Exposure to warm/hot, dusty, and noisy conditions
• Working around heavy machinery and elevated surfaces (with proper training and PPE)
• Lifting, standing, bending, and working with tools as part of daily work
