The Opportunity

The Production Supervisor leads daily operations across the Assembly and Paint departments, helping turn fabricated components into high-quality finished signage that is ready for customer delivery. This role is responsible for team performance, production flow, safety, quality, and on-time execution across electrical assembly, lighting installation, surface preparation, painting, and finishing. The Production Supervisor works closely with Fabrication, Digital Printing, Quality, Engineering, and Shipping to remove obstacles, balance resources, and continuously improve how work moves through the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily operations for the Assembly and Paint departments, setting clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and team performance.
  • Plan and adjust staffing, workflow, and production priorities in real time to meet project schedules, customer commitments, and shipping deadlines.
  • Coach, train, and develop employees in assembly, electrical wiring, low-voltage lighting, surface preparation, paint application, finishing, and department-specific safety practices.
  • Partner with the Production Manager and cross-functional teams to identify constraints, resolve production issues, and maintain smooth material and information flow through the manufacturing process.
  • Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste, rework, downtime, and process variation while improving throughput and product quality.
  • Monitor workmanship and finished-product quality, addressing issues involving electrical components, paint application, color consistency, surface preparation, and final appearance.
  • Oversee the safe and effective use of department equipment, tools, paint booths, spray systems, hoists, and material-handling equipment, coordinating maintenance needs as appropriate.
  • Track production performance, material usage, and key operating metrics, using data and team feedback to identify improvement opportunities and strengthen accountability.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in manufacturing leadership, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • 3 or more years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience leading assembly, paint, finishing, electrical assembly, or similar production operations; custom sign or other made-to-order manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of production scheduling, workflow management, quality practices, inventory or material control, and manufacturing performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with electrical assembly, low-voltage lighting, surface preparation, paint application, or finishing processes is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach employees, address performance concerns, build accountability, and support employee development.
  • Experience applying lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma principles to improve safety, quality, productivity, or cost.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills, with comfort using basic production systems and data to manage changing priorities.
