NORTHWEST AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGIES, INC. recrute:

Northwest Aerospace Technologies (“NAT”), a Safran Company, is the only EASA DOA Certified aircraft interior reconfiguration group in the United States. Focusing on commercial and military aircraft, NAT provides first-class services in design, engineering, quality, certification, and manufacturing for a variety of Blue Chip customers.

Position Summary:

The Assembly Mechanic III is responsible for producing prototypes and the organization’s most complex components. They serve as the Subject Matter Expert and primary personnel to establish manufacturing processes post-First Article or Prototype. They train other assembly mechanics, are responsible for bonding and fabrication of complex furniture, and provide input into business decisions related to operations or sourcing. They drive continuous improvement activities within the work center and identify new equipment to improve operational efficiency. They also support the development of work center operating standards in alignment with company and regulatory requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Sr. Assembly Mechanic Responsibilities:
  2. Ability to delegate tasks and problem solve in the absence of the shop lead.
  3. Partner with engineering, ME, and planning to develop and execute prototype designs.
  4. Build and bond test articles, complex furniture, and interior major assemblies.
  5. Lead the completion of post-FAI customer pickups.
  6. Be a Subject Matter Expert in multiple Boeing and Airbus Process Specifications.
  7. Be a Subject Matter Expert in processes within the potting and bonding work center (fill and fair, install insert and edge pot).
  8. Be a Subject Matter Expert in furniture bonding and assembly.
  9. Fabricate jigs and fixtures for accurate and repeatable execution of critical fit requirements.
  10. Pre-fit and bond, vacuum bond interior components of varying material types.
  11. Form and bond aluminum trim extrusions, sheets, honeycomb panels, and other materials for sub-assemblies.
  12. Be a Subject Matter Expert in interior component assembly, custom fabrication, and applying complex décor per finish requirements.
  13. Perform complex repairs on components as required by the customer.
  14. Master shop equipment including drill motors, pneumatic tools, band saws, drill presses, grinders, rivet guns, and more.
  15. Be a Subject Matter Expert in the use of chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints, liquid nitrogen, and finishes.
  16. Establish work center standard operating procedures.
  17. Support make/buy decisions in partnership with operations management and planning.
  18. Lead continuous improvement activities.
  19. Ability to interpret electrical and structural part drawings.
  20. Train and mentor entry to mid-level assembly mechanics.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years' experience interpreting electrical and structural aerospace or equivalent part drawings.
  • 5+ years' experience with assembly and component testing requirements.
  • High mechanical and electrical aptitude and aerospace industry knowledge.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, detail orientation, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work from models, drawings, sketches, and instructions to produce prototype and production parts.
  • Ability to analyze specifications and determine operation sequences.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Standard machine shop environment. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Normal hearing and vision required for safety and job performance.
