Job summary

Silgan Dispensing Systems in Manitoba is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to repair and maintain complex machinery, including motors, conveyors and production equipment. You will diagnose faults, replace worn parts, adjust feeds and drives, test performance, and rebuild components to reduce scrap and improve quality.

The role requires reading safety rules, writing routine reports, and communicating effectively with teams. Overtime to support production schedules is expected.

Qualifications

• Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to repair or make spare parts.

Job description

Summary

Repairs and maintains machinery and equipment such as motors, conveyor systems, and production machines by performing the following duties:

• Clean photoelectric equipment with contact cleaner.
• Remove and rebuild escapements by disassembling and replacing worn parts.
• Dismantle air cylinders and rebuild by replacing worn parts.
• Locate and repair pneumatics leaks.
• Locate and repair electrical faults with a multimeter.
• Adjust feeding tracks and escapement by adding or removing shims.
• Adjust tube cut by turning adjustment wheel.
• Adjust tube bin by increasing or decreasing the width.
• Replace motors, motor control and clutches.
• Trouble‑shoot and repair electric motors.
• Replace conveyor belts by removing and disassembling conveyors.
• Adjust Syntron feeder speed by increasing or decreasing power percentage.
• Adjust air cylinder's speed by adjusting flow controls.
• Clean parts bowls by removing parts and washing with cleaning fluid.
• Replace cut‑off blade by disassembling cutter escapement.
• Remove parts jam by pulling bad parts out with required tool.
• Clean parts using solvents.
• Trouble‑shoot with programmer using keyboard.
• Rebuild assembly equipment to upgrade for scrap reduction, quality improvements, etc.
• Develop cost savings ideas and implement same.

Physical Demands

Employee must regularly stand, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; sit, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, squat, or crawl; occasionally sit and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Comments

Must be able to work mandatory overtime. The regular schedule for this position exceeds eight hours per day, 40 hours per week. Additional overtime is assigned as needed.
