Flex-N-Gate in Urbana, IL is seeking a dependable Forklift Driver to join our manufacturing team. The role operates powered industrial vehicles, moves materials, and maintains safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Starting pay is $22.00 per hour, with 90-day raises to $22.50 and a further raise to $23.00 after six months; overtime may be required. Full-time, on-site with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to transport materials safely.
• Empty trash dumpsters using a forklift.
• Work indoors and outdoors, may be exposed to heat, cold, and rain.
• Climb in and out of forklift as needed.
• Use forklift controls and pedal; maintain proper posture.
• Maintain neck/spine mobility while moving products and reversing.
• Change a 45-pound propane cylinder mounted up to 50 inches high per shift.
• Operate across all shifts, including nights; meet low-light vision requirements.
• Maintain forklift certification.

Job Title: Forklift Driver

Starting Pay Rate: $22.00(after 90 days $22.50, after 6 months $23.00)

Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM, with mandatory overtime as needed

Reports To: Paint Supervisor

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Forklift Driver to join our team. The Forklift Driver is a safety-sensitive position responsible for the safe and efficient operation of powered industrial vehicles to transport materials throughout the facility. This role requires continuous equipment operation, strict adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments under varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Continuously sit while driving and operating a forklift during shift. Safely transport materials throughout the facility using powered industrial vehicles
• Empty trash dumpsters using a forklift
• Work both indoors and outdoors moving product; may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain
• Occasionally climb in and out of forklift (20-inch first step, 10-inch second step)
• Use both hands for safe forklift operation, including steering and right-hand lever controls; constant right-foot pedal use required
• Maintain full range of motion of neck and spine to look behind while reversing and to look up and down when moving product
• Change a 45-pound propane cylinder mounted up to 50 inches high on the forklift once per shift
• Operate forklifts during all shifts, including nights; must be able to see clearly in low-light or dark conditions
• Meet visual requirement of 20/40 vision with correction
• Maintain certification in forklift

Shift is 8 hours. May work overtime up to 10-12 hours. Two 10-minute breaks/ shift and 20-minute meal break.

Employees get paid the entire time they are clocked in and do not clock out for breaks, if taken on campus!

Physical Demands

• Must wear safety toe boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety vest
• Must be able to use both hands for safe operation of forklift. Steering wheel with levers controlled by right hand. Constant pedaling with right foot
• Operator must have full range of motion of the neck and spine so that operator can look behind forklift while driving backwards and look up and down with moving products
• Regular pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting above head and below shoulder level
• Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts

Work Environment

• The work environment is representative of conditions typical for a manufacturing facility. Guardian West is not a climate-controlled facility. Safety precautions must always be followed to reduce exposure to hazards
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and loud environments

Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration
