Job summary

The Timken Aurora Bearing Company is seeking a 2nd Shift Assembly CNC Machinist to perform a variety of functions in the Assembly departments while upholding safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Responsibilities include programming, setup, operation of CNC lathes, gauging, SPC charting, and continuous compliance with print specifications. Candidates should have a high school diploma and strong mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary or trades/technical education preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and utilize gauging equipment.
  • Strong ability to follow written and verbal work instructions.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, suppliers, and plant leadership.

  • Set-up and operate CNC Lathes adhering to safety, quality and quantity standards.
  • Perform all duties as assigned in a safe and efficient manner with emphasis on quality.
  • Select and Change arbors, fixtures, inserts and tooling.
  • Program computer for O.D. and I.D. size, facing, chamfering, grooving, drilling or other machining requirements.
  • Run first piece part, make adjustments to meet print specifications and complete paperwork for setup approval.
  • Load parts, cycle machine, check parts at designated intervals and adjust to maintain quality.
  • Package and tag parts, complete paperwork including SPC charting.
  • Move parts to and from work area and wash parts as needed.
  • Maintain machine fluid levels and sign out gauging equipment.
  • Surface grind and/or bench grind tooling and inserts as needed.

Assembly CNC Machinist Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Set-up and operate CNC Lathes adhering to the safety, quality and quantity standards of Aurora Bearing Company.
  • Perform all duties as assigned in a safe and efficient manner with an emphasis on quality.
  • Select and Change arbors, fixtures, inserts and tooling.
  • Program computer for O.D. and I.D. size, facing, chamfering, grooving, drilling or other machining requirements.
  • Run 1st piece part, make necessary adjustments to attain quality characteristics per print specifications and complete necessary paperwork to attain a set-up approval.
  • Load parts, cycle machine, check parts at designated intervals and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality characteristics of part per print specifications throughout machining operations.
  • Package and tag parts, complete all required paperwork including SPC charting.
  • Move parts to and from work area and scale as needed. Wash parts before running as needed.
  • Maintain all machine fluid levels.
  • Sign out all necessary gauging equipment from Q.A. and set gauges per print specifications.
  • Surface grind and/or bench grind tooling and inserts as needed.
Assembly CNC Machinist Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent; post-secondary or trades / technical education and certifications preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and shop math competencies
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and utilize various types of gauging equipment
  • Strong ability to follow written and verbal work instructions
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, suppliers, and plant leadership

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $20.50 – $26.18 per hour and is commensurate on experience and education. This full-time position is eligible to participate in the paid time off plan, 401k, and comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision.
