Job summary

Viking Packaging in New Paltz, NY is seeking motivated individuals for Assembly Assistant roles (part-time and full-time). This entry-level position supports final assembly, quality checks, counting, stacking, and packaging to meet customer specs.

Roles offer hands-on training and clear pathways into machine-support positions, with emphasis on safety, teamwork, and doing quality work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent preferred.
• Attention to detail and ability to measure to 1/16 inch.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect finished products for print quality and defects prior to shipment.
• Count, stack, and box finished products per work instructions.
• Assemble partitions, inserts, and related components.
• Dust and wire-brush boxes to ensure a clean final product.
• Verify order quantities and report discrepancies to a supervisor.
• Stage completed orders for shipping or next production step.
• Complete basic production or quality documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Position Overview:

We’re currently seeking a motivated individual to fill our open Part Time and Full Time - Assembly Assistant positions inNew Paltz, NY.

The Assistant Hand Assembly supports the final stages of the manufacturing process by preparing finished products for shipment. This entry-level role and a natural stepping stone toward advancement into machine-support roles, including Assistant Machine Operator. This hands-on role focuses on assembling partitions, inspecting print quality, counting and stacking products and preparing boxes to meet customer specifications.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

• Inspect finished products for print quality, accuracy, and visible defects prior to shipment.
• Count, stack, and box finished products according to work instructions and customer requirements.
• Assemble partitions, inserts, and related components as required by specific orders.
• Dust and wire-brush boxes to ensure a clean, professional final product.
• Verify order quantities and report discrepancies or quality concerns to a supervisor.
• Stage completed orders for shipping or the next step in the production process.
• Accurately complete basic production or quality documentation as required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support production and shipping needs.

• Ability to measure to the 16thof an inch with a tape measure
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to learn manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Basic math skills, including counting and simple measurements.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and corrugated materials.
• Prolonged standing, walking, bending, repetitive motion, and lifting throughout the shift.
• Overtime may be required to meet production and shipping deadlines.
