Job summary

Hunter Douglas is seeking an Assembly & Packing Operator in Owensboro, KY. This role safely assembles, inspects, labels, and packs products while operating production equipment and maintaining quality standards.

You will support safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery goals. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and basic knowledge of assembly processes, measuring tools, and ISO procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of assembly equipment, quality criteria, and assembly prints.
  • Strong math skills and ability to accurately use measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and ISO guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble injection-molded and purchased components into semi-finished products following instructions and safety procedures.
  • Operate automated and semi-automated assembly and packing equipment including machine interfaces and scales.
  • Inspect products to identify defects and ensure correct labeling and packaging.
  • Perform basic machine setup, feeding, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Accurately track production, inventory, and WIP using the department interface and complete documentation.
  • Monitor production parameters and report issues to supervisor or lead.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and participate in 6S and audits.
  • Verify orders and palletize finished products for shipment.

Position Overview

The Assembly & Packing Operator safely assembles, inspects, labels, and packs products while operating production equipment and following quality standards. This role supports safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery goals.

What you'll do
  • Assemble injection-molded and purchased components into semi-finished products while following established work instructions, quality criteria, and safety procedures.
  • Operate automated and semi-automated assembly and packing equipment, including machine interfaces, auto-packers, baggers, scales, and related production equipment.
  • Inspect products throughout the assembly and packing process to identify defects, ensure correct labeling and packaging, and prevent quality issues from reaching customers.
  • Perform basic machine setup, feeding, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maintain established cycle times.
  • Accurately track production, inventory, and WIP using the department's proprietary interface and ensure all required production documentation is completed.
  • Monitor control shots, production parameters, and quality requirements; promptly report machine failures, safety concerns, expired materials, and quality discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor or lead.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by completing daily 6S activities and participating in department safety and internal quality audits.
  • Verify customer orders and packaging requirements, correctly label and palletize finished products, and move completed products to the appropriate shipment area.
Who you are

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant manufacturing or assembly experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of assembly equipment, manufacturing processes, work instructions, quality criteria, and assembly prints.
  • Strong basic mathematics skills with the ability to accurately use measuring devices such as calipers, push/pull gauges, torque wrenches, and torque tools.
  • Ability to set up and accurately use digital scales and operate HMI/touch-screen interface systems and related software.
  • Ability to identify quality defects, follow established procedures, and contribute to resolving basic safety and quality issues.
  • Ability to understand and apply ISO guidelines, quality standards, labeling requirements, and production procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask, remain organized, maintain a clean workstation, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to stand and perform repetitive hand, arm, leg, and foot movements throughout the shift; frequently bend, stoop, push, pull, and handle materials.
  • Ability to frequently lift and handle items weighing up to 25 lbs.; must seek assistance for items weighing more than 25 lbs.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, fixtures, presses, and production equipment while consistently meeting established productivity and cycle-time requirements.
