Job summary

Enprotech Industrial Technologies is seeking an Assembly Technician to build, rebuild, and repair machines per engineering blueprints and manuals. You will use hand tools and power tools to complete disassembly, reassembly, and test runs to verify function and adherence to specifications.

The role requires strong mechanical ability, tool ownership, and the ability to read prints; you will work with cranes, drills, welders, and forklifts in a shop environment with travel up to 10% and a 1st shift

Qualifications

  • Solid mechanical skills and ability to use cranes and heavy tools daily.
  • Own tools of the trade and use them effectively.
  • Interpret prints and determine disassembly/assembly sequences.
  • Read assembly prints and follow verbal/written instructions.
  • Use small machine tools, drilling, welding, cranes, and forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles products according to customer requirements and blueprints.
  • Verifies parts against stock list and blueprints with calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
  • Aligns components for assembly and tests function of assembled equipment.
  • Form, bend, and fasten piping and attachments for air, water, and oil systems.
  • Mounts and connects auxiliary equipment and tests operation of completed product.
  • Test or assist in testing the operation of the finished product.

Job Description

Position Summary & Objective

Assembles products according to customer’s requirements. Assembles and fits components according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering memos, sketches, and knowledge of machine construction to construct, rebuild, and repair machines and equipment using hand tools and power tools.

Essential Functions Performed by the Position

  • Creates plans for the disassembly and repair per the assembly procedures, following specifications provided and using knowledge gained by experience.
  • Verifies conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers. Inspect parts to quality standards.
  • Aligns components for assembly, manually or with a crane.
  • Removes high spots and smooths surfaces using chisels, scrapers, files, and powered hand grinder. Assemble, set up, and operates machines to verify functionality, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer’s specifications.
  • Form, bend, and fasten piping, fixtures, and attachments required to provide the machine with air, water, and oil. May bend and install pipe for hydraulic systems.
  • Verifies alignment and tolerances of moving parts using measuring instruments such as dial indicators and micrometers.
  • Installs moving parts such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and works them to test free movement and operation of assembly by hand. Test or assist in testing operation of completed product.
  • Align and mesh gears in gearbox to assemble system of gears.
  • Mounts and connects auxiliary, mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, or hydraulic equipment. Cuts and fits pipes and tubing.
  • Test, or assist in testing, operation of completed product.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Solid mechanical skills. Must have mechanical ability to proficiently use cranes and other heavy tools and equipment that are normally required in daily assembly and disassembly operations.
  • Must own tools of the trade, and be able to use them effectively.
  • Ability to use judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions as to the sequence of operations and processes within the limitations of established or standard methods and procedures.
  • Must be able to interpret prints well enough to determine appropriate disassembly sequence for a variety of heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret a variety of assembly prints, and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of using small machine tools, drill presses, welders, cranes, and forklifts.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to use basic shop math.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with team members, supervisors, and engineers.
  • Possess the physical strength and ability to safely handle heavy equipment and tools.
  • Ability to bend tubing, lube, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in mechanical assembly and disassembly.

Environment and Working Conditions

  • Shop environment.

Travel Requirements (percent)

  • Up to 10%

Shift:1st Shift - 6:30 am-5:00 pm
