Job summary

Power Flame, an ASTEC brand, in Parsons, KS, is seeking an Assembler to build and wire components per drawings and BOMs. Day shift Mon-Fri 6:00am-2:30pm with OT as needed; focus on wiring and mounting purchased parts in a fabrication setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year assembly experience with conduit, chassis and wiring in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read specification sheets and drawings.
  • Pass training and required testing; follow safety rules.
  • Good manual dexterity and basic math.

Responsibilities

  • Lift motor/blower assemblies into mounting positions manually or with hoists.
  • Assemble and install pilots; screw pipe and install valves.
  • Run tubing and install conduit; wire control panels.
  • Work according to BOMs and drawings; perform other duties as needed.
  • Maintain safety and quality in all tasks.

The Assemblers are responsible for following specification sheets, drawings, and bills of materials in the assembly and mounting of purchased part components, piping, valving, tubing, and cable/wiring. This position will focus on wiring specifically. Our Day Shift hours are Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm (OT as needed).

What You’ll Do
  • Performs general labor activity of lifting motor/blower assemblies into a mounting position either manually or with the assistance of hoists
  • Performs general labor activity of assembling and installing pilots.
  • Performs general labor activity of screwing pipe, installing valves and running tubing.
  • Performs general labor activity of cutting and installing conduit, installing chassis and general to final wiring.
  • Other duties as requested or required

What We Need From You
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in assembly with cutting and installing conduit, installing chassis and general to final wiring within a manufacturing environment/fabrication shop preferred
  • Reasoning development to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions relating to standardized situations.
  • Basic knowledge of the use and operation of hand tools, air tools, electrical tools, and computers.
  • Mathematical development to perform the four basic arithmetic operations.
  • Language development: ability to read specification sheets, drawings, etc.
  • Write compound and complex sentences, using punctuation, adjectives, and adverbs
  • Speak clearly and distinctly with correct pronunciation and variations in word order using present, perfect, and future tenses. Must be able to talk and/or hear well enough to communicate with co-workers 100% of time.
  • Ability to effectively communicate instructions, directions, processes, procedures, safety rules
  • Proficient in promoting safe and healthy work environment
  • Ability to pass training and required testing.
  • Specific vision abilities with this job require close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); and distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); and peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); and depth perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distances); and ability to adjust focus; and ability to identify and distinguish colors 100% of time.
  • Must be able to stand on level surface 100% of time and walk on level surface 40% of the time.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, stoop enough to perform assembly 20% of time.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and/or lift, exerting up to 50 pounds of force, 10% of time.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms; and/or use hands to feel or handle well enough to pick up parts and perform assembly 85% of time.
  • The employee is required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 15 pounds of force regularly
  • While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly exposed to a moderate noise level, fumes, chemicals, work near moving objects, heavy equipment, and cordless electrical tools. Building is heated during winter and during the summer temperatures will exceed outside ambient temperatures.
