Job summary

Vander-Bend, a U.S.-based manufacturer and division of Vantedge Medical, is seeking a Temporary Assembler to join onsite day and swing shifts in Stockton, CA. Build mechanical, electro‑mechanical, and cable assemblies per MPIs and drawings.

Read blueprints, use hand/power tools, perform basic electrical tests, and document production data while maintaining a clean 5S area. Prior assembly experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1+ years manufacturing/assembly experience preferred.
  • Experience reading blueprints, MPIs, and basic electrical schematics.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and stand for long periods.
  • Experience with soldering, crimping, and cable termination is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical, electro‑mechanical, and cable assemblies per MPIs and drawings.
  • Assemble sheet metal components and hardware into higher‑level products.
  • Perform cable preparation including cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering.
  • Use hand and power tools to assemble and test components.
  • Record labor hours and production quantities in the ERP system.
  • Maintain a clean, safe 5S work area and support continuous improvement.

About This Opportunity

The Assembler is responsible for building mechanical, electro‑mechanical, and cable/harness assemblies in accordance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, manufacturing process instructions, and Vander‑Bend manufacturing standards. Depending on business needs, employees may be assigned to support Mechanical Assembly, Electro‑Mechanical Assembly, or Cable Assembly operations.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble mechanical, electro‑mechanical, cable, and wire harness assemblies following Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs), blueprints, schematics, work instructions, and verbal instructions.
  • Assemble sheet metal components, machined parts, hardware, purchased components, cables, wire harnesses, and electro‑mechanical assemblies into higher‑level products.
  • Perform cable preparation, including wire cutting, stripping, crimping, routing, terminating, and soldering as required.
  • Utilize manual, battery‑powered, electric, and pneumatic assembly tools, including screwdrivers, riveters, wrenches, cutters, crimpers, and soldering equipment.
  • Set up workstations by organizing parts, tools, and materials required to complete assigned assemblies.
  • Perform in‑process inspections and basic product testing, including continuity, pull, and other mechanical or electrical tests as required.
  • Submit first‑piece assemblies for Quality Assurance approval when applicable.
  • Accurately record labor hours, production quantities, and transactions within the Visual Manufacturing ERP system.
  • Review previous operations for completeness and notify the Lead or Supervisor of discrepancies, omissions, or quality concerns.
  • Ensure proper handling, identification, packaging, labeling, and stacking of products to prevent damage.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area while following 5S standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.
  • Support production goals while maintaining quality, efficiency, and workmanship standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of manufacturing or assembly experience preferred.
  • Experience in any combination of the following assembly disciplines is preferred:
    • Mechanical Assembly
    • Electro‑Mechanical Assembly
    • Cable or Wire Harness Assembly
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, work instructions, Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs), and basic electrical schematics.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and accurately complete production documentation.
  • Ability to understand moderately complex written and verbal instructions.
  • Experience using hand, battery‑powered, electric, and pneumatic assembly tools.
  • Experience with soldering, crimping, wire stripping, cable termination, and mechanical assembly techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to perform basic mechanical and electrical testing is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds continuously.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, grasp, and perform repetitive assembly tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and manufacturing equipment while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
