Summary

Assembles structural sections of aircraft using parts, subassemblies, and components and/or installs functional units, parts or equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assembles structural sections of aircraft using fabricated parts, subassemblies, and components by safely using hand tools and power tools in accordance with blueprints and specifications.
  2. Drills holes into structure and subassemblies and attaches brackets, hinges, or clips.
  3. Cuts, trims, and files parts to the proper fit.
  4. Locates and identifies reference points and holes for installation of parts using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments.
  5. Ensures parts are aligned to acceptable tolerances.
  6. Inspects and tests installed units, parts, and equipment for fit, form, and function in compliance with standards using appropriate measuring instruments and test equipment.
  7. Tends machines, such as arbor presses or riveting machines, to perform force fitting or fastening operations on the assembly line.
Nonessential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provides guidance to bench assemblers when needed.
  2. Provides assistance to other production areas as needed.
  3. Maintains clean work area, tools, and equipment.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.
