Job summary

JBT Marel is seeking an ASME Welder to perform mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, and piping on our poultry equipment in Russellville, AR. You will work from engineering drawings and shop routings, using power tools and cranes to assemble and test units.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork within the Fabrication department, with opportunities to grow in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Must have ability to understand and interpret mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Ability to operate power tools, fabrication equipment, overhead cranes and forklifts.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred; able to work on-site in Russellville, AR.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, hydraulic and pneumatic piping per drawings.
• Interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics to ensure correct assembly.
• Operate power tools, fabrication equipment, cranes and forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Test equipment to meet specifications and assist with quality checks.
• Collaborate with team to meet production schedules in the fabrication dept.

The facility manufactures food processing equipment for the poultry industry.

Purpose

Performs mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, hydraulic and pneumatic piping on complete line of food processing equipment. Works from mechanical and electrical engineering drawings, work instructions, and shop routings to perform tasks. Ability to operate power tools, fabrication equipment, overhead cranes and forklifts. Responsible for performing operational testing and ensures that equipment meets test specifications. Experience or aptitude in operating and testing Industrial Controls, Variable Frequency Drives, servo-motor controls, cameras and/or laser scanners a plus. This position is located on-site in Russellville, AR in the Fabrication department assembling Chillers for the poultry division.

Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent

• Must have mechanical aptitude to perform mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, hydraulic and pneumatic piping functions. 40%
• Must have knowledge of assembly processes and fabrication techniques. Ability to sequence the final assembly of complete machines through the testing process. 20%
• Must have knowledge to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics. 15%
• Must be able to effectively communicate within a team environment. Ability to take oral and written instructions and complete tasks within the defined labor standards. 10%
• Must adhere to all internal operating procedures and safety policies. Must maintain acceptable housekeeping practices in designated work area. 10%
• May be cross-trained in other job functions based on capacity requirements. 5%
• Occasional Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

JBT Marel operating procedures, safety procedures, ISO quality procedures, rigging training, MRP system training and will be required to advance skill set in other functional areas. Must have ability to understand and interpret mechanical blueprints, work instructions, written procedures, oral and written instructions. Ability to work independently to meet production schedules. Ability to utilize shop math fundamentals and problem-solving techniques to resolve fabrication issues. Must meet quality standards, production schedules and labor standards. Variance on labor standards impact cost and on-time delivery performance and result in installation and customer production downtime.

Knowledge and Skills

High School Diploma or GED preferred. Must be able to work within a team environment and interact well with co-workers.

Supervisory Responsibility/Financial Responsibility

None.

Scope of Responsibility/Accountability

Interacts directly with Process Team Leaders, Production Supervisor, and Production Planners to meet production-scheduling requirements. Interacts with Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineers to implement cost reduction initiatives, and testing processes. Interacts with HSE coordinator to meet safety and environmental policies and procedures.

Work Environment: Time is spent in a manufacturing shop environment. Exposure to possible shop hazards including noise, heavy lifting, machinery, forklift and crane traffic. Could be exposed to diverse hot and cold climate conditions for extended periods.

Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking and climbing. Will be required to lift 50 lbs., push mobile carts and work from a ladder or platform.
