Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Use spray equipment to apply paint and primers.
  2. Responsible for selecting paint colors for specific jobs.
  3. Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted, and mask as required.
  4. Clean, wipe up excess paint, remove masking, visually check for runs, shadows, improper coverage, touch up, and/or paint thickness.
  5. Mix, thin, and prepare paints for application.
  6. Maintain supplies of paint and all related spraying equipment.
  7. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the work area.
  8. As needed, assemble air handling units, pipe chases, and hoods based on paint workload.
  9. Label units as required.
  10. Use test equipment and perform visual quality checks.
  11. Report work-related injuries and near misses to supervision.
  12. Wear all required PPE and follow safety/environmental rules.
  13. Identify and report unsafe conditions within the plant.

Note: Must be able to train on 1st shift for 4 to 6 weeks.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, high places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather, and extreme temperatures. Noise levels are usually moderate.

Employees are required to wear respirators and Tyvek suits, with health provider authorization if necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees must regularly use hands, reach, talk, hear, walk, sit, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. They must lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally. Vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
