Job summary

Valmont is seeking a highly motivated Shipper/Packer for the Shipping department in Estill, SC. You will fabricate crates and bundle orders per customer specifications, measuring and cutting boards as needed.

Responsibilities include loading shipments, checking for damage, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace while following procedures and safety rules. Some roles involve training less experienced staff and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Accurate counting of items per order.
• Ability to read and follow written and oral directions.
• Basic math skills including fractions and percentages.
• Proficient with tape measure and hand tools.
• Must be able to lift at least 75 lbs.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Forklift license is required.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

What you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Shipper/Packer position in the Shipping department. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will fabricate crates and bundle orders for Valmont products according to customer specifications. Additionally, but not limited to, you will:

• Measure and cut boards according to specifications for the purpose of crating the product.
• Load shipments onto flatbeds.
• Bundle poles per order.
• Make sure all shipments are checked closely for any damage.
• Keep shipping area free from any trash, boards, etc.
• Follow all standard and/or prescribed safety regulations
• Follow all standard operating procedures
• Train and assist in development of less experience personnel
• Train and assist in development of less experience personnel
• Train and assist in development of less experience personnel
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must be able to properly count items on each order to ensure that they are correct.
• Maintain supplies needed on a weekly basis
• Ability to read and follow written and oral directions
• Ability to use basic math skills up to and including the use of fractions, percentages
• Proficient with tape measure and the use of hand tools
• Must be able to lift at least 75 lbs.
• Train and assist in development of less experience personnel
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions (heat, cold or rain).
• Job requires forklift license.
• Train and assist in development of less experience personnel

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to effectively troubleshoot processes and take corrective actions
• Ability to utilize proper decision making techniques
