Job summary

Owens Corning Doors in Janesville, WI is seeking an Assembler to support daily production of doors. You will operate on a production line, follow SOPs, load and move materials, assemble components, and ensure accurate movement of doors through the manufacturing process.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED (preferred), ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and readiness to pass pre-employment checks. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, competitive pay of $20 per hour, opportunities to rotate

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a safe work environment by following safety rules and procedures.
  • Read, understand, and follow production schedules for correct manufacturing.
  • Verify materials using the bill of materials.
  • Palletize, wrap, and label units as needed.
  • Assemble fabricated parts to subassemblies to complete units.
  • Test and calibrate parts to meet tolerances and specifications.
  • Follow job orders and schematics; adjust equipment parameters accordingly.
  • Gather materials based on production schedules for continuous workflow.
  • Perform quality checks throughout production.

Overview

An Assembler is responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations throughout the door manufacturing process. An assembler will be assigned to a production line and be required to follow the SOP for a specific job assignment. This may include loading and unloading doors or raw materials, assembling, crafting, and correct movement of doors throughout the manufacturing process. Assemblers are cooperative and willing to apply their skills in a variety of venues by regularly rotating positions to achieve success.

  • Preferably one year experience in manufacturing setting

What you will do:
  • Contribute to and foster a safe work environment by upholding all safety rules and procedures, asking questions when unsure, and embracing our Target Zero philosophy.
  • Read, understand, and follow production schedules ensuring the right product is manufactured at the right time and at the right place.
  • Verify material being used is correct by reading the bill of materials.
  • Palletize, wrap, and label units as needed.
  • Assembles fabricated parts to relatively large or heavy subassemblies to complete units.
  • Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Follow production job orders and schematics, this position adjusts/sets equipment parameters and ensures applicable parameters are achieved.
  • Gather materials as needed based on established production schedules to ensure a continuous and efficient door crafting process.
  • Perform quality checks throughout the production process, ensuring manufacturing specifications are achieved.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively to support product flow through plant.
  • Maintain downtime records and production information as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Use a computer to read order specifications, update databases, and retrieve/update data as required.
  • Able to accurately take measurements using a tape measure and calipers.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and use push carts in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and on occasion push/pull 100lbs, also to sit, kneel and stoop.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to add & subtract fractions and whole numbers and convert fractions to decimals.
  • Ability to read, follow, and understand work instructions from both written and verbal sources and basic writing skills.
