Job summary

Owens Corning Doors in Janesville is seeking an Assembler to support door manufacturing on a rotating production line. You will load and unload, assemble and move doors, and follow the SOP for your assignment to keep production flowing.

Candidates with manufacturing experience and a high school diploma are preferred; ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required, and pre-employment checks may apply.

Qualifications

  • Preferably one year of manufacturing experience.
  • HS Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a safe work environment by following safety rules and procedures.
  • Read, understand, and follow production schedules to ensure correct timing and placement.
  • Verify materials against the bill of materials.
  • Pile, wrap, and label units as needed.
  • Assemble parts into larger subassemblies to complete units.
  • Test and calibrate parts to meet tolerances and specifications.
  • Follow production orders and adjust equipment parameters as required.
  • Gather materials according to schedules for continuous production.
  • Perform quality checks throughout the process to ensure specifications.
  • Communicate professionally to support product flow through the plant.
  • Maintain downtime records and production information as appropriate.

Overview

An Assembler is responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations throughout the door manufacturing process. An assembler will be assigned to a production line and be required to follow the SOP for a specific job assignment. This may include loading and unloading doors or raw materials, assembling, crafting, and correct movement of doors throughout the manufacturing process. Assemblers are cooperative and willing to apply their skills in a variety of venues by regularly rotating positions to achieve success.

What you will need:
  • Preferably one year experience in manufacturing setting
  • HS Diploma or GED preferred
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
What you will do:
  • Contribute to and foster a safe work environment by upholding all safety rules and procedures, asking questions when unsure, and embracing our Target Zero philosophy.
  • Read, understand, and follow production schedules ensuring the right product is manufactured at the right time and at the right place.
  • Verify material being used is correct by reading the bill of materials.
  • Palletize, wrap, and label units as needed.
  • Assembles fabricated parts to relatively large or heavy subassemblies to complete units.
  • Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Follow production job orders and schematics, this position adjusts/sets equipment parameters and ensures applicable parameters are achieved.
  • Gather materials as needed based on established production schedules to ensure a continuous and efficient door crafting process.
  • Perform quality checks throughout the production process, ensuring manufacturing specifications are achieved.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively to support product flow through plant.
  • Maintain downtime records and production information as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Use a computer to read order specifications, update databases, and retrieve/update data as required.
  • Able to accurately take measurements using a tape measure and calipers.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and use push carts in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and on occasion push/pull 100lbs, also to sit, kneel and stoop.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to add & subtract fractions and whole numbers and convert fractions to decimals.
  • Ability to read, follow, and understand work instructions from both written and verbal sources and basic writing skills.
