Job summary

A-dec, Inc. in Newberg, Oregon is seeking an Assembly II to perform routine and semi-routine assembly tasks, including sub-assemblies, assembling final products, packaging, and quality checks. You will follow standard work drawings and safety guidelines.

  • Supports water spider duties and material movement, stocking bins and pallets.
  • Builds final product and helps troubleshoot and repair assemblies as needed.
  • Adheres to safety, quality, and productivity standards; may train less experienced assemblers.

Overview

The Assembler II performs both routine and semi-routine assembly tasks which include sub-assemblies, assembling some final products, packaging, water spider, and checks parts for quality and function.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Performs routine assembly tasks, working independently with the aid of standard work assembly drawings (SWADs), such as: Assembles electrical and mechanical components and any additional routine sub-assemblies. Packages products while maintaining quality and productivity standards. Water Spider (inventory movement support): facilitates workflow, including stocking bins, pallets, cardboard, and general material handling. Builds final product. Works with area manufacturing engineers (ME’s) Frequently operates tools/equipment such as hand tools, pneumatics tools, testing equipment, fixtures, and high voltage dielectric testing while using required personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines. Routinely follows work and test instructions to perform tasks. May be required to interpret the results of certain tests and at times may troubleshoot and repair assemblies as necessary. Achieves and maintains established safety, quality, and productivity standards. Must not pose a risk to self or others. Assembler II is in the process of learning to build an entire product or line and may train less experienced Assemblers.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English with a demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions. Must possess basic computer skills. Able to perform basic math calculations. Must be able to troubleshoot problems when necessary. Must be able to operate the required hand tools and fixtures. Able to interpret standard work assembly drawings (SWAD), production order paperwork, test instructions, and quality checklists. Education and Experience: Typically requires 1-2 years of manufacturing experience.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.
