Job summary

GE Vernova in Greenville, SC is seeking an Assembler II to join our gas turbine manufacturing team. You will align, assemble, and fit turbine components, interpret blueprints and planning documents, and use cranes, hoists, and power tools to meet exact specifications.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing or industrial assembly experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or engineering drawings.
  • Experience with component fit-up, alignment, drilling, reaming, or bolting.
  • Ability to use standard measuring devices to verify quality.
  • Comfort working in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and wear PPE.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.; background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Align, erect, assemble, and fit gas turbine components for new make and repair work.

  • Identify and correct machining or setup issues to maintain quality and production flow.
  • Contribute to team problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Take ownership of compliance, safety, quality, and productivity in your area.

Job Description

What you’ll do

  • Align, erect, assemble, and fit gas turbine, compressor, rotor, stator, bearing, and main unit components for new make and repair work.
  • Interpret drawings, material lists, planning documents, methods specifications, job aids, and related shop documentation to complete assembly work accurately.
  • Position and align components and accessories using cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices, then drill, ream, dowel, fit, and bolt components to specification.
  • Perform mechanical alignments and fit-up using standard and specialized measuring or alignment devices.
  • Apply required quality checks, measurements, and documentation to ensure assembled components meet specifications.
  • Use assembly fixtures, stands, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and grinding or sanding equipment to complete assigned work.
  • Support team execution by coordinating task flow, assisting less experienced assemblers, and helping accomplish assigned work.
  • Operate material-moving equipment such as forklifts and jib or gantry cranes, as trained.
  • Identify and correct routine machining or setup issues to maintain quality and production flow.
  • Contribute to team problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Take ownership of compliance, safety, quality, and productivity in your area of responsibility.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing or industrial assembly experience, including experience with large‑scale mechanical and/or electrical assemblies.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints or engineering drawings independently.
  • Experience performing component fit‑up, alignment, drilling, reaming, doweling, bolting, or mechanical adjustment to specification in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience using standard measuring devices and inspection methods to verify quality requirements during assembly.
  • Must be capable and comfortable working in confined spaces and working at heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and wear required personal protective equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Successful completion of an assessment for the job class, background check, and drug screen.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future for this role.

Pay Rate: $31.663- $32.919 per hour

Eligible for a $1.00/hour shift premium on 2nd and 3rd
