Job summary

Verus Aerospace is seeking an assembler for precision mechanical assembly on aerospace parts. You will work with floor stations, rivet and assemble components to tight tolerances, following drawings and established procedures.

Responsibilities include reading complex diagrams, using hand and power tools, and calibrating parts to meet specs. Strong attention to detail and safety compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 2 years of precision mechanical assembly experience.
• Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and documents for machined parts.
• Experience with Riveting, Nut Plates, Bearings, Bushings, Cold Bonding and related tasks.

Job description

On a production basis, performs precision mechanical assembly work, which is typically of high complexity and/or requires fitting, alignment, and the adjustment of components, units, and assemblies to very close tolerances. Assemblers integrated next-level assembly work on machined/fabricated aerospace parts at a floor station. Assembles fabricated parts at a floor station using and or performing: Riveting, Cold Working, Nut Plates, Bearings, Bushings, Cold Bonding, Fabricating, and installing Shims, Sealing, Bucking/Squeezing Rivets and Grounding Blocks for integrated next-level assemblies. Assembler’s tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Assemblers also ensures conformance to established procedures and quality level of Cadence site location Engineering and Quality Policy and conformance to Customer Engineering and Specifications and safe work habits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Accomplishes various production assembly functions that are somewhat complicated in nature.
• Assembles products or sub-assemblies according to verbal or written instructions, or by following drawings or diagrams.
• Uses hand tools and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications using jigs and templates when required.
• Positions parts in specified relationship to each other under extremely close tolerance conditions.
• Fastens parts together using an Orbital Riveting machine.
• Loads and unloads previously setup machines such as arbor presses, drill presses and milling machines.
• Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repairs as necessary. Trouble-shoots and reworks production items that do not meet specifications.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
• Some degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Position Requirements

• May be required to meet certain certifications in field.
• Requires at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area of precision mechanical assembly experience.
• Working knowledge of shop math and geometry.
• The ability to read and interpret complex drawings and documents for machined parts and assemblies highly desired.
• Preferred experience in Riveting, Nut Plates, Bearings, Bushings, Cold Bonding, Fabricating and installing Shims, Sealing, Bucking/Squeezing Rivets and including but not limited to Grounding Blocks for integrated next-level assemblies.
• Preferred knowledgeable in the use of various power-hand tools, drills, jigs, templates, boring and bucking equipment.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work with others with a positive attitude.
• Provide training to less experienced assemblers or as directed by management.
• Complies with safety training and policies.
• Provide accurate information to supervisors, and co-workers.
• General Physical Requirements: Standard physical requirements to include the ability to sit and stand for multiple hours at a time; Able to sit and stand for multiple hours at a time; Reaching walking; Pulling, pushing, lifting 50 lbs. or less; Atmospheric conditions, oils/coolants.
• Other assignments as requested by management.
