Job summary

IPG Photonics in West Oxford, MA is seeking an Assembly Technician II to support the fabrication of fiber-optic medical products. You will assemble components, operate welding and testing equipment, and maintain strict cleanroom standards.

Responsibilities include setup and troubleshooting, training peers, and achieving required production metrics in a controlled manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Install, and assemble components of fiber-optic medical products.
• Operate welding, testing, and packaging equipment in manufacturing.
• Wear cleanroom attire in a controlled manufacturing area.
• Use cleaning liquids such as isopropanol alcohol.
• Maintain cleanliness of work and common areas.
• Cross-train in production process or area as assigned by supervisor.
• Meet production metrics defined by supervisor.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, kit, install, and assemble fiber-optic components and packaging.
• Operate manufacturing test equipment including meters and microscopes.
• Wield bonding materials and maintain cleanroom standards.
• Perform setup and basic troubleshooting of equipment as needed.
• Train other assemblers as assigned and meet production targets.

Job description

• Inspect, kit, install, and assemble components of fiber-optic medical products: optical fibers, ferrules, connectors, and packaging components.
• Operate manufacturing test equipment: fiber-optic strippers and cleavers, power meters, oscilloscopes, laser test stations, RFID readers, and microscopes.
• Use bonding materials: epoxies, glues, etc.
• Wear appropriate cleanroom attire, work in a controlled manufacturing area requiring coats, hair and beard nets, gloves, and booties.
• Use generic cleaning liquids (alcohol, isopropanol alcohol, acetone, etc.).
• Maintain cleanliness of work and common areas.
• Cross-train in production process or area as assigned by the Supervisor.
• Meet assigned production metrics as defined by the Supervisor.
• Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

LEVEL II

• Perform basic setup, and troubleshooting of equipment as needed.
• Train other assemblers as assigned.
