Job summary

MERRICK Industries, Inc. seeks a Full-Time Assembler to construct and test mechanical and electrical assemblies for Merrick equipment. You will follow detailed work instructions, read blueprints, and select tools to build precise subassemblies.

You will use multimeters and soldering irons, verify tolerances, and document workmanship. A high school diploma or GED plus at least 6 months of related experience are required. Teamwork and safety are essential in this role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist or work under the guidance of an Assembler II in assembling final products or subassemblies.
• Select proper tools, fixtures, and equipment to assemble products.
• Complete assemblies within specified tolerances and time.
• Use hand and power tools for mechanical and electrical assembly.
• Use electronic equipment such as multimeters and soldering irons.
• Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and drawings.
• Install components on chassis, circuit boards, panels, and other units.
• Route and attach wires and connectors to form circuitry and connect to power sources.
• Inspect parts for defects and take corrective action as needed.
• Test units to locate defects, measure performance, and calibrate per specs.
• Complete and scan work orders for each job.
• Maintain safety and operate in a diligent manner.
• Work as part of a team and respect others.
• Report for work on time as scheduled.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides assistance to or works under the guidance of an Assembler II in assembling final products or subassemblies.
• Select proper tools, fixtures, and equipment to properly assemble products.
• Complete assemblies with the specified tolerances and within the specified time.
• Uses hand and power tools for mechanical and electrical assembly.
• Uses electrical/electronic equipment such as multimeters and soldering irons.
• Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and assembly drawings.
• Installs components and parts such as switches, coils, transformers, relays, transistors, and semiconductor circuits on chassis, circuit boards, panels, and other units.
• Routes and attaches or solders wires and connectors to form circuitry and connects assembly to power supply sources, switch panels, or junction boxes.
• Examines parts for defects and takes corrective action as needed.
• Tests the unit to locate defects, measure performance, determine need for adjustment, and verify specified operation and calibrates units according to specifications.
• Completes and scans work orders accurately for each job.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Functions in a workplace of dignity and respect for all.
• Functions as a team member and to get along with others.

• Reports for work on time as scheduled and ready to perform.

SAFETY and ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Accountable for all concerns within their scope of work and has the absolute responsibility to remedy, report and/or communicate any issue to managers, supervisors, safety or environmental managers as appropriate.
• Follows all safe work practices, watches out for fellow workers, and keeps their work area clean.
• Ensures area remains compliant regarding hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste and universal waste.
• Must be able to obtain certification and safely operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, forklifts, and aerial lifts.
• The following personal protection equipment is required and must be worn while working in the manufacturing facility or customers' facilities:
• Company approved safety glasses or goggles.
• Company approved steel/composite toe shoes.
• Appropriate hand protection, respiratory and hearing protection in designated areas.
• ppropriate clothing and other safety equipment as required.
• SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None required.
