Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reading of drawings/blueprints, production documentation, complete documentation, maintain high quality workmanship and organizational habits
  • Preparation and inspection of components for assembly; cleaning, part verification and fit-checks, grit blasting
  • Cutting, stripping, cleaning, inspection and handling of fiber optic cables in preparation for termination
  • Terminations of Fiber Optic contacts involving various tools, epoxy procedures, crimping, handling and inspection
  • Polishing techniques and methods for Fiber Optic contacts, polishing papers, sequence, handling, inspection
  • Knowledge and completion of optical testing including proper use of test jumpers, insertion loss and return loss equipment and documenting measurements
  • Oral/Written Communication - Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Records data

Education And Experience

  • High School diploma, or equivalent
  • Ability to apply common sense in performing job
  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to use basic high school math skills
  • 2-3 years complex cable assembly experience

Physical Demands

  • Good coordination and flexibility in both hands
  • Move and occasionally lift up to 50lbs. or more
  • Good vision including passing color blindness test

Work Environment

  • Factory environment

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Use of safety glasses
  • Use of steel protective shoes or protective shoe covers
