Job summary

Oerlikon is seeking a Temporary Assembler C for our Westbury, NY facility. Under supervision, you will perform semi-complex electro-mechanical assembly, wiring, testing and packing on modules and components.

You will read operation sheets and blueprints, set up machines, and ensure tolerances with fixtures. You may guide lower level staff, maintain PPE and clean work areas to meet safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school or trade training; able to read uncomplicated drawings.
• 1–3 years of assembly experience requiring hand–eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Assemble from operation sheets, blueprints, and verbal instructions.
• Set up and operate machines and fixtures to tolerances.
• Assemble, wire, test and pack components; cut and insert parts; finalize sub-assemblies.
• Use measuring instruments to test components against specs.
• Perform minor maintenance on bench and shop tools and equipment.
• Maintain records of parts processed; train junior staff if needed.

We are looking for a Temporary Assembler C for our Westbury, NY facility. Under moderate supervision, perform a variety of semi-complex electro-mechanical assembly, adjusting, installing, and fitting operations on components or modules.

Your Responsibilities:

• Work from operation sheets, blueprints and verbal instructions to perform diversified assembling operations.
• Set up and operate a variety of machines and assembly operations to specific tolerances using available fixtures.
• Perform operations such as assembly, wiring, Testing and packing. Include cutting, manual and semi-automatic inserting, laying stripping, tying wires and attaching components to modules or sub-assemblies, and complete.
• Use a variety of measuring instruments to test components for acceptability to operating requirements and specifications.
• Perform minor maintenance of bench and shop tools and equipment.
• Maintain records of parts and components processed.
• May guide and train lower level employees.
• Keep work area in a safe, clean and orderly manner.
• Use all prescribed personal protection equipment (PPE) where deemed necessary; Follow established environmental, health and safety policies, procedures and work instructions associated with assigned duties and work location.
• Perform other duties as required.

Your Profile:

• Knowledge equivalent to high school, industrial or trade training. Should be able to read and interpret uncomplicated drawings.
• 1 to 3 years assembly experience involving hand and eye coordinated skills.

Oerlikon is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position, which is$20.00 to $25.00 per hourSome positions within Oerlikon may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for the role will be based on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, internal equity, job location, work experience, education, training, certifications, licenses, etc. Therefore, as compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual, it is likely that not all applicants will be hired at the highest end of the listed compensation range.
