Job summary

The Toro Company is seeking an assembler II for HammerHead to perform mechanical assembly of machinery and sub-assemblies. You will read blueprints, position components, and fasten parts using various tools while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include using SAP for inventory tasks, training others, and testing equipment. The role emphasizes accuracy in production records, problem solving, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Typically 18 to 36 months of directly related experience in mechanical assembly or repair.
  • Basic mechanical skills and aptitude, including using wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.
  • Knowledge of SAP and ability to assist others based on job needs.
  • Reading, clerical, and basic math skills; ability to understand written instructions and maintain production records.
  • Ability to perform assembly with little instruction and train others.
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot.

  • Handle components and completed pieces of equipment.
  • Operate equipment to move it and check its functions by using steering wheels, control levers, knobs, buttons, etc.
  • Use a computer to check location, inventory, and routing of parts.
  • Record information electronically.
  • Meet or exceed Safety, Quality, Productivity, Performance, and Attendance metrics.
  • Provide input on line process, BOM structure and new product introduction.

Assembler II at HammerHead

This employee performs mechanical work building machinery using various hand and power tools (wrenches, hammers, impact tools, etc.). This includes working with mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, and electrical systems on machinery. The employee also performs other duties as assigned.

What Will You Do?
  • Read information from blueprints, drawings, production records, written instructions, technical documents, etc.
  • Fit, position, and fasten components to build machinery or sub-assemblies of machinery using vises, clamps, wrenches, air-powered tools, pliers, etc.
  • Handle components and completed pieces of equipment.
  • This includes operatingequipment to move it and check its functions byusing steering wheels, control levers, knobs, buttons, etc. while observing and evaluating equipment functions.
  • Use a computer to check the location, inventory, and routing of parts.
  • Record information electronically.
  • Consistently meets or exceeds expectations for Safety, Quality, Productivity, Performance, and Attendance metrics.
  • Give input on line process, BOM structure and new product introduction.
What Do You Need?
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Typically 18 to 36 months of directly related experience required, including mechanical assembly or repair experience.
  • Have appropriate basic mechanical skills and aptitude, including using mechanic's tools such as wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc. This should be indicated by past performance of mechanical repair, maintenance, or assembly work.
  • Be knowledgeable of SAP and be able to utilize the system, and assist others, based upon job needs.
  • Demonstrate appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills, including the ability to understand written instructions, maintain production records, and perform routine calculations.
  • Able to perform assembly with little to no instruction and train others on your assembly.
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot.
Work Environment

Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors,withvariable temperature,humidity, noise, and dirt). Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, compressed air power supplies, and materials handling. Working with hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, paint, and fuels.

Essential Physical Functions
  • The physical demands for this job are classified as medium and include the following:
  • Be able to regularly handle items weighing up to 40 pounds from floor to knuckle.
  • Be able to regularly pull or push items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Be able to regularly lift items weighing up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder.
  • Be able to regularly lift items weighing up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead.
  • Job requires frequent walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Job requires occasional sitting, twisting, elevated work, and continuous standing.
