Job summary

Crane Aerospace & Electronics is hiring an Assembler - Valves in Burbank, CA, on a 5:30am–2:00pm shift. You will assemble subassemblies, inspect parts, and test completed work following military, FDA, and Crane standards.

The role requires 1–5+ years in small component assembly, strong attention to detail, and adherence to health and safety guidelines. Opportunity to contribute to vital aerospace and defense products.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1-5+ years of Small Component Assembly in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of materials, processes, quality control, costs, and distribution.
  • Ability to read production or engineering prints and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly tasks for subassemblies or completed assemblies.
  • Prepare, clean, inspect, and mark components prior to assembly.
  • Test finished assemblies and operate equipment.
  • Observe OSHA and Crane safety policies and 5S initiatives.

Job Summary

The Assembler - Valves (5:30am - 2:00pm) works under close supervision performing assigned assembly processes to manufacture Crane Aerospace & Electronics products in accordance with military standards, Food and Drug Administration standards, and/or other assembly standards using visual aids, verbal and/or written instructions.

Essential Functions
  • Perform assigned assembly tasks subassemblies, or completed assemblies
  • Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components,
  • Test finished assemblies
  • Operate assigned equipment and machinery (i.e.-Die Attach Machine, Wire Bonder, X-Ray machines
  • Observe proper health and safety procedures in handling hazardous chemicals
  • Identify and report to lead or supervisor any difficulty which would affect the correctness and quality of the work in process
  • Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement
  • Practice safe work habits as established by OSHA and Crane policy;
  • Cross-train to work on at least one process within the cell
  • Complete job-related company training courses
  • Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, Standard Work, and other initiatives as they arise
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
  • Operation of a Microscope (Can be up to 8 hours a day)
Non-Essential Functions
  • Understand and/or participate with internal/external audits
  • May be required to repair/rework defective or returned assemblies
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience: 1-5+ years of Small Component Assembly experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods knowledge
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication; Proficiency in reading comprehension (understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents) of the English language; Basic computer skills (understanding of basic software)
  • Abilities: Accurate color vision, near vision, and depth perception and other vision capabilities required; Manipulative skills, including finger and manual dexterity; Adept hand eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness
  • Ability to thoroughly interpret production or engineering prints, production planning information and assembly aids such as illustrations and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to work well in a moderate to high paced work environment in a high-volume setting
  • Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • IPC Soldering Certification
Eligibility Requirement
  • This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Working Conditions
  • Working conditions could include a Class 7 or 8 Cleanroom, or general manufacturing environment
  • Up to 8 hours of Microscope work daily
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
  • Standing: 25% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Sitting: 75% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Lifting (in pounds): up to 40 pounds
  • Pushing (in pounds): up to 40 pounds
  • Mental/Visual: use of soldering equipment, microscopes/magnifying glasses
  • Workspace: assembly cell

Assembler I: $20.76/hr. - 25.77/hr.

Assembler II: $23.83/hr. - $30.56/hr.

Assembler III: $27.48/hr. - $35.78/hr.

Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles maybe eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
