Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in San Diego, CA, is hiring an Assembler 1 for a 2nd shift (1530–0100) on a 9x80 schedule. The role requires a High School diploma and electronics manufacturing experience, with duties spanning board, cable, and harness assembly, rework, and testing under craft-level documentation.

Preferred candidates hold a secret clearance and have experience with RF systems, SMT packages, and shop-floor software such as SAP, Solumina, or Tableau. US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and 1+ years experience in electronics manufacturing.
• J-Standard solder certification, or similar experience or certifications.
• Experience in soldering filters and/or pick and place automated machines.
• Experience in assembling, rework, and modifying prototype cables, components, testers, fixtures, and chassis.
• Experience in assembling complex RF circuit cards following engineering-level documentation
• Experience developing rework assembly techniques for dense SMT circuit boards.
• Experience in performing assembly and rework operations on all types of SMT packages including sizes down to .0102 inches.
• Experience in constructing wiring harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies from engineering sketches.
• US citizenship required.
• Active secret security clearance preferred.
• Experience with SAP, Solumina, Tableau, and other shop-floor systems.
• Experience with ESD and FOD control.
• Experience with CUI and COMSEC.
• Experience with FAR, ITAR, AS9100, ISO 90001 rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs assembly operations on electronic and mechanical assemblies per diagrams and drawings.
• Uses hand/power tools, jigs, and saws; performs continuity checks on work in process and completed items.
• May conduct quality inspections and rework or test prototype assemblies according to specifications.
• Collaborates with team in a 9x80 schedule and supports potential relocation between sites.

We are looking for you to join our team as a Assembler 1 based out of San Diego, CA. This job opening is for the Rancho Carmel site but could be also asked to support at the Spectrum site in Kearny Mesa. 2nd shift hours are 1530 - 0100 and you will be working a 9x80 schedule.

What you'll get to do:

Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables. Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws. Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed. May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications. May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.

Basic Qualifications Assembler 1:

• High School diploma and 1 or more years experience in electronics manufacturing.


• J-Standard solder certification, or similar experience or certifications


• Experience in soldering filters and/or pick and place automated machines.


• Experience in assembling, rework, and modifying prototype cables, components, testers, fixtures, and chassis.


• Experience in assembling complex RF circuit cards following engineering-level documentation


• Experience developing rework assembly techniques for dense SMT circuit boards.


• Experience in performing assembly and rework operations on all types of SMT packages including values and sizes of materials starting as low as .0102.


• Experience in constructing wiring harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies from engineering sketches.


• US citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications Assembler 1 :

• Active secret security clearance.


• SAP access/experience is preferred.


• Advanced education and/or experience assembling and troubleshooting RF and/or CNI systems.


• Experience with shop floor manufacturing systems (SAP, Solumina, Tableau, etc.)


• Experience with ESD (electrostatic discharge) and FOD (foreign object damage) control.


• Experience with CUI (controlled unclassified information) and COMSEC (communications security).


• Experience with FAR, ITAR, AS9100, and/or ISO 90001 rules and regulations.

Primary Level Salary Range: $36,500.00 - $60,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
