Job summary

OPW Fueling Components, LLC seeks an Assembler to perform routine assembly of electronic and metal components for tank-truck and trailer fittings. You will use samples, drawings, and instructions to assemble, test, and ensure safe operation, maintaining quality and safety standards.

The role requires reading standard work, achieving daily production targets, and working in a team environment at the Knappco facility in Hamilton, OH. Strong manual dexterity and English proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Four years of relevant work experience as an assembler.
  • Ability to read work rules and production drawings.
  • Demonstrated English comprehension and expression.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble routine electrical and mechanical products using drawings and samples.
  • Follow standard work rules and production drawings for quality.
  • Perform repetitive, safe assembly and testing of components.
  • Use hand tools, soldering iron, and measurement devices as needed.
  • Identify faulty parts and document test results per procedures.

Summary Description:

The Assembler will perform routine assembly operations of a repetitive nature on electronic and/or metal components and subassemblies, sight flow indicators, disconnects (e.g. Kamlok, Kamvalok, Epsilon), isolation rings along with electronics overfill detection for tank trucks and trailers (e.g. probes, sockets, cabling, rack monitors) and light mechanical loading and unloading fittings (e.g. valves, vapor vents, vapor recovery elbows). Use samples, simple drawings, schematics, as well as written and verbal instructions to perform assembly. Safely use pneumatic and standard hand tools assemble products and test them when applicable. Use good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to work with small parts. Maintain a safe work environment per company safety standards.

Essential Assembly Responsibilities:
  • Ability to assemble a variety of routine electrical and/or mechanical products.
  • Read and understand standard work rules, follow production drawings and sample assemblies.
  • Complete repetitive & standardized processes maintaining quality & safe work practices.
  • Ability to use all required tools, and operate all required equipment in an assigned work area.
  • Ability to tap, drill, ream, shim, grind, test, etc. to accomplish desired fit.
  • Ability to perform force fitting or fastening of mechanical products to meet quality standards.
  • Ability to crimp, stake, screw, bolt, solder, cement or press fits to join or secure parts in place.
  • Identify faulty parts during assembly and/or testing.
  • Perform wire cutting, stripping, dressing ends and other simple cable operations.
  • Use a variety of hand tools, soldering iron, machines, and associated equipment, including tape measures, gauges & mass flow tester.
  • Ability to perform quality assurance procedures.
  • Work with a variety of chemicals, potting material and equipment.
  • Perform functional test of all assemblies in accordance with the accepted test procedures.
  • Maintain and monitor test equipment as necessary to ensure continued accuracy.
Essential Operations Responsibilities:
  • Ability to work in a team culture without continuous supervision.
  • Meet and maintain daily production rates & goals.
  • Operate computers in cells to receive work instructions, input quality controls, and update productivity trackers.
  • Fully participate in 6 S and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Keep Supervisor informed of operations activity that occur within the scope of responsibility, including but not limited to quality, parts supply, and/or safety.
  • Complete, all required cell activities and documentation for assigned work cell as requested by supervisor.
  • Ensure work environment is clean, orderly and free of safety hazards at all times.
  • Attend all required training.
  • Actively participate in all department projects, tasks, and objectives.
  • Other activities and duties based on the needs of the business.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years relevant work experience.
  • Distinguish colors for color-coding purposes (if working in electronics).
  • Meet and maintain daily production rates & goals as established and required by the company.
  • Ability to work all scheduled and adjusted times, and or work overtime to accommodate production.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English comprehension and expression both verbal and written.
  • Ability to adjust to changing work environments, variable noise levels and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to tolerate prolonged standing and walking distances; physical stamina and strength to perform repetitive bending, reaching, and stooping motions; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Excellent manual dexterity with full-finger and hand movement to perform repetitive motions and task.
  • Willing and able to wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, non-conductive jacket.
  • Ability to enter transaction in Oracle with high accuracy and speed, adhering to company processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • This position is based in the Knappco facility in Hamilton, OH.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Diploma/Certificate from a trade / vocational school (with an industrial focus) or a recognized industry organization (for example, an IPC Electronics Certification).
  • High level of customer focus and ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times with customers and coworkers.
  • Self-directed, positive and ethical role model able to work with minimal supervision.
Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment. The employee may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.

The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
