Microelectronics Assembler

This contract Microelectronics Assembler role offers the opportunity to work with advanced electronic products and systems at a leading technology organization in Chelmsford, MA. You will perform hands‑on assembly and testing of microelectronic components, sub‑assemblies, and finished products while following detailed work instructions and quality standards. This position is ideal for individuals with strong attention to detail, an interest in electronics, and a desire to grow their skills in a fast‑paced production environment. The role requires eligibility to obtain an interim security clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble electronic components, sub‑assemblies, and products in accordance with detailed work instructions, drawings, and established procedures.
  • Use microscopes, measuring instruments, and electronic test equipment to perform precision assembly and ensure products meet quality and performance requirements.
  • Read and interpret assembly process documentation, work instructions, and related technical information to complete tasks accurately.
  • Handle and assemble microscopic to larger components, using visual magnification as needed to maintain high accuracy and quality.
  • Operate various hand tools, including tweezers, rulers, cutters, and pneumatic tools such as torque drivers and screwdrivers, in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Maintain accurate data entry and production records in digital systems to document work performed and support traceability requirements.
  • Follow established ESD procedures and handle sensitive electronic components and equipment in a controlled manner.
  • Collaborate with team members and production staff to improve throughput, support continuous improvement initiatives, and resolve production issues.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and process standards while working efficiently in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Participate in training activities, including learning applicable standards such as J-STD-001 and/or IPC‑A‑610, to enhance skills and support high‑reliability assembly work.
Essential Skills
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate digital systems for timekeeping, accessing work instructions, and confirming task completion.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform precise work with small components under magnification.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced production environment while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to standardized processes.
  • Ability and willingness to learn industry standards such as J-STD-001 and/or IPC‑A‑610.
  • Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures and familiarity with electronic test equipment.
  • Experience with electrical and/or micro‑electronics assembly (preferred).
  • Proficiency using hand tools such as tweezers, rulers, cutters, and pneumatic tools including torque drivers and screwdrivers.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Eligibility to obtain an interim security clearance as a condition of starting in the position.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, punctuality, reliability, and a desire to grow and learn in the role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in electronics or microelectronics assembly environments.
  • Familiarity with soldering practices and standards used in electronic assembly.
  • Experience reading and working from blueprints, assembly drawings, and process documentation.
  • Exposure to production environments that require adherence to ESD controls and handling of sensitive electronic components.
  • Interest in developing proficiency with J-STD-001 and IPC‑A‑610 standards for high‑reliability electronic assemblies.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate on throughput and continuous improvement initiatives.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production facility in Chelmsford, MA, focused on advanced electronic and microelectronic products. The primary work schedule follows a weekend shift, Friday through Sunday from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with the possibility of overtime depending on business needs. The position requires initial training on a first‑shift schedule for approximately the first month, working Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. You will work in a structured manufacturing environment using microscopes, measuring instruments, electronic test equipment, and a variety of hand and pneumatic tools. The setting emphasizes adherence to ESD controls, safety procedures, and quality standards, and involves sustained focus on detailed tasks with small components under magnification. The environment supports collaboration, continuous improvement, and skill development within a professional, team‑oriented production setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 – $24.00 /hr.
