Job summary

GE Vernova in the United States is seeking a skilled assembler to align, erect and assemble turbine components including rotors, stators and gas turbine units.

You will read blueprints, work with hand and power tools, and operate lifting equipment while supporting Lean and quality improvements.

This role is on first shift (7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to pass a background check and drug screen.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or 3 years heavy assembly experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Able to work 1st shift 7:00–3:30.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
  • Willingness to work in a tobacco-free environment.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work overtime/weekends as needed.

What you’ll do:

  • Align, erect, assemble, fit components of unit, compressor, turbine rotors, stators, bearings and main gas turbine unit (New Make and Repair– Disassemble and Assemble)

  • May be required to outline the work of others to accomplish assigned tasks.

  • May be required to obtain Overhead Crane Operator License (175/200 ton capacity) and make various crane moves/assemblies, including a variety of turbine components.

  • Participate/Support Lean Initiatives, Continuous Improvement Projects, Quality Friday, etc.

  • Interpret drawings, material lists, planning and methods specifications, job aids and related shop documents.

  • Manually or with jib, floor crane, hoists, etc., position and align rotor or unit components and accessories and drill, ream, dowel, fit, bolt up, etc.

  • Make necessary alignments of parts, assemblies, accessories using standard and special mechanical, optical or other devices.

  • Apply standard and special measuring devices and maintain required quality checks and records.

  • Perform work on ladders, scaffolding and on floor in fixed open floor workstations and on Gas Turbine main unit.

  • Use various equipment including assembly stands, fixtures, hand and power tools, miscellaneous pneumatic and electric power wrenches, sanders, and grinders.

  • May be assigned to lesser skill assembly and related operational contents.

  • Perform all duties as part of a team.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring:

  • Ability to work 1st Shift (7-3:30pm)

  • Must be knowledgeable and proficient with reading/interpreting blueprints.

  • High school diploma, GED, or 3 years equivalent heavy assembly experience or manufacturing assembly

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job

  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen

  • Willingness to work in a tobacco-free environment

  • Ability and willingness to stand for long periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Able and willing to work in a tobacco‑free environment and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and working overtime or weekend shifts as needed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay Transparency:

The base hourly pay range for this position is$26.50 - $36/hr. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety offactors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
