Job summary

Volvo Group is seeking a production assembler in the United States to join our team and contribute to building construction equipment. You will work from complex drawings, BOMs, and specifications to assemble machines and subassemblies, while adhering to quality and safety standards.

You will diagnose issues, perform tests, and document defects while maintaining a clean, organized work area and supporting continuous improvement initiatives among a collaborative team.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 40 lbs, pull 100 lbs, and push 35 lbs
  • Must be able to walk short distances, stand for long periods, crouch/squat/kneel/bend/rotate, sit for short periods, and climb stairs

Responsibilities

  • Assemble machines and subassemblies following drawings, BOMs and work instructions
  • Identify and diagnose mechanical issues during assembly and testing
  • Perform running and performance tests, document defects and ensure product quality
  • Follow 5S standards and maintain a clean, safe work area
  • Interpret drawings to verify material requirements and plan efficient operation sequences

  • Perform diversified assembly operations required to assemble various sizes and models of construction equipment. Work involves the assembly of complete machines, machine sections or subassemblies, as assigned, and the collaboration to diagnose malfunctions or difficulties concerned with the mechanical aspect of the unit under erection, its hydraulic systems, ignition or control circuits
  • Receive direction from the Manager and daily work assignments from the Team Leader. Work from complex drawings, work instructions, bill of material sheets, material lists, and specifications to plan assembly operations, ensuring conformity to specification
  • Interpret drawings to verify material requirements and plan an efficient sequence of operations. Fit, adjust, and align components, such as gears, shafts, keys, and bearings; assemble complete machines or sub-assembly as zones are assigned
  • Conduct running and performance tests. After running tests, diagnose malfunctions, dismantle, clean, and inspect for damage or distortion. Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified
  • Detect and report faulty operation, defective material, questionable drawing requirements, and unusual conditions to the proper authority. Maintain working area in neat and orderly conditions as set by 5s standards daily
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures. Follow policies and procedures, support the organization’s goals
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality

For this position, the base pay is set at $24.62 - $31.34/hour, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
